Well good. Why was it dirty? What was the dirt? How did it get there?

If some SOB at a dealer said this about my warranty I would be explaining to him exactly how a left hook works...

A few weeks ago we had a lot of fires in central Florida. There was a lot of ash in the air. It rained this past weekend and I'm assuming got the ash dust wet and it caked inside the radiator and condenser fins. I guess I didn't get it all out as I though I had.

And the dealer could not figure that out--find another dealer...

Almost seems like the dealer was keeping the Truck so they can charge Toyota for a few days of warranty work.

This just proves that some techs just can't diagnose a problem that doesn't get detected by an obd scanner. Glad you got it all figured out. Crazy that the dealership tried to charge you for corporate approved warranty work though. Punks.

I guess things like this don't happen to 2nd gens.
Thread sure went quiet once people knew they couldn't harp on a third gen problem all day every day.

I've never heard of it happening to any vehicle over rain and ash from forest fires, and we have had bad forest fire fall out where I live for weeks at a time in the past two years here.

I have seen it a few times. Usually it is plugged air filters, but have seen plugged condensors as well.

Palmetto ash is nasty stuff. It's almost oily to a point. When the palmettos burn, they put off a dark smoke.

I just read this thread. This reminds me of the time when I bought a used Toyota Celica GTS. I took it to our Toyota dealer and paid them $125 to go through the car. They said the car looked great...The hood clip is broken. That's all we found wrong with it. So I bought the car from this guy and it over heated on me 20 minutes after I bought....On my way home from the dealership. Needless to say I was pissed. I called the dealer and demanded my $125 back.

Everything looked fine. They did a compression test and a visual inspection of Everything else on the car. After a 20 minute "discussion" with the manager....They refunded my money.

Smitty is not making believers out of some, it's the constant day after day threads about 3rd gens crapping and being towed to dealerships making believers.....
