Clarkson did do a vietnam special on Top gear. It's what partially inspired me to go.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
Just booked a trip to Vietnam for the summer. 2 weeks Hanoi to Saigon. Gonna be fun!

Also have the dvr set for the TRD special.

And +1 to the top gear special.

Commercial for crawl control...still pretty kick ass. Wish there was more driving and less silly stuff.

I'd still watch it. Especially if they helicopter the trucks on site in every episode.

I'm surprised no one said "duuuude" or "totally rad". Maybe I'm just old.

If I had a dollar for every time they said "turn on crawl control."

I'm guessing my SR5 probably does not have crawl control.

Yeah, funny thing was they never actually showed the crawl control working or doing anything for that matter. Like when the 4Runner gets stuck, they yell at him to turn it on, shows him reaching for it, and then cut to a secen where it's flooring backwards. Same thing when the Tacoma got stuck in the river... Yells to turn it on, cut to scene where it's pedal down powering forward.

Did the Crawl Control actually work??? Who knows? Maybe it go them out of the rut enough to get traction and that's where the scenes pick up with them escaping, but that's not how Crawl Control works. I get it, a scene where a wheel is torquing back and forth isn't very dramatic television, but you would think Toyota would want to showcase what makes these vechiles "unique"... I use that word loosely, because the Off Road models also have Crawl Control... But still.

You would think a series would make more sense. As much as Toyota probably forked out for this shoot, getting the vechiles there, production, etc, that was a pretty short show... Just felt like it would have been better suited as a 20 minute YouTube mini movie or something on the official Toyota channel... More people probably would have saw it at least. Must be nice to be Andy Bell and friends, get paid to travel around the world for a couple weeks of shooting to produce what amounts to a long commerical... Nice work if you can get it.

I just watched it and enjoyed it. It seemed to rip off the Top Gear Vietnam special a little bit.
The made me sad that I am in Southern California and do not have any trails ANYTHING like that. Does anyone know if this will be a series or not? My search came up with zip.

I'd watch it as a series. They do have races all over the world as well and it would be great to have those televised.

When the NASCAR type truck races are televised I always watch those when I can.

I follow car auctions on TV and it sounds like there is an uptick in appreciation for trucks at auctions. I think this is a good barometer for interest in trucks of all types, old and new...so Toyota could really tap into this interest with a series.

When I see shows where they restore old trucks, I always think those are neat projects. To restore any old car it seems like it's a $20k or more investment. Makes me appreciate the newer trucks even more.

I watched and thought it was a good idea but poorly executed, it is basically a commercial so they should have spent more time showing how things work.

I hope they make it a series... maybe travel around the world to exotic places pushing the TRD Pro lineup to the max.

Less jokes, more vehicles in action.

Watched this last night. Enjoyed the camerawork of the scenery. Like others I'm calling BS they to used only crawl control to get out of that mud, on stock setup without recovery gear. But hey it's TV gotta leave some fantasy element.
