No serial number or mfg stamp on it? Definitely a unique looking cruiser.

I wouldn't have minded if my parents gave me this instead of buying me a new Tacoma...

It is a 2004 Honda Odyssey EX that my parents bought brand new. They bought it in May 2004 at Koons Honda in Manassas, Virginia. We had this van just under 9 years and put about 132K miles on it in that time. Aside from routine maintenance (and the DVD player for the rear seat entertainment system dying in about 2008), this van was absolutely trouble-free.

You might notice that the van has a Delaware plate. My dad sold it to his boss (who lives in Delaware) in May 2013 after he bought a brand new Honda Pilot Touring. It now has about 150K miles on it and shows NO SIGNS of dying:

The Odyssey was involved in one accident, and it was the other driver's fault. In February 2007, a woman in a red Toyota Sienna kinda-sorta rear-ended the Odyssey. My mom had just picked me up at high school and we were driving to the gym to work out. My mom was waiting to make a right on red, and the woman in the Sienna got impatient and decided to drive around my mom's van on the left. I was in the shotgun seat, and we were just making small talk and listening to the radio. Then, this woman just slammed into the left rear corner of the Odyssey. We were not injured, but definitely startled. My mom was really upset. This was like 5 months after an inattentive teenage girl in a Volvo had blindly pulled out of the high school parking lot and hit my mom when she came to pick me up in the 2002 BMW convertible and did about $1,500 in damage, so my mom was "sick of getting hit."

I unbuckled my seatbelt and got out, and just gave the woman in the Sienna a classic "WTF" look. Her van had some very minor damage to the right corner of the front bumper. Then I walked around the back and looked at the damage. Our van got it worse. The lower corner of the left quarter panel was pushed in, and the left side of back bumper was smashed. Because the bumper was plastic, it had rebounded after the impact and wasn't dented, but the damage looked like a stab wound because of the red paint transfer from the Sienna. The huge crack in the bumper literally looked someone had shanked the van in the back bumper with a dagger, and now it was bleeding. The whole back bumper had to be replaced, and the cost to repair the damage was $1,600. This was primarily because the bumper was not cheap to begin with and came unpainted, and the remaining cost was the result of parts and labor associated with painting it and installing it. The damage to the left quarter panel was hammered back out. They did a good job fixing it, but if you looked closely you see that the sheetmetal didn't line up perfectly with the bumper.

These pictures are from March 2017. The accident occurred a decade ago and the damage has obviously long since been repaired. The general area of the damage is circled in red, and the red arrow shows where the lower corner sticks out and doesn't line up perfectly:
    IMG_2719.jpg

This angle shows the imperfection better:
    IMG_2717.jpg

This van has never been involved in another accident. In 2011 or 2012 I backed it into my friend's mom's 1997 Monte Carlo. I had just dropped my friend off after a night at the movies, and it was pitch black outside. I cranked the wheel to the right and backed out of the driveway, and I jumped the left front corner of the Monte Carlo with the right rear corner of the Odyssey, while my friend and his mom were watching. There was no damage whatsoever to either vehicle, and my friend's dad was just glad that I hadn't hit his 2008 Nissan Versa (which had high miles, but was only 3 or 4 years old at the time and MINT). I was just told to be careful, and nothing like that has happened since.

Somebody made a "Favorite Whiskey" thread back in 2011, and I couldn't find one for vodka so I figured I'd create one and see where it goes. Right now my favorite vodka is Ketel One. It holds the distinction of being the only vodka I've done straight shots of! I also like Grey Goose, but I've only had that with Sprite and never straight.

Neither am I, nor had I ever drank Ketel One prior to March 18th (much less ever tried straight vodka). I turned 28 on the 14th, and had my belated birthday party at the bar where I work on the 18th. I asked my best friend's Russian/Ukrainian wife a very stupid question. How would you like to do a shot of straight vodka? She bought a round of Ketel (and later two car bombs) for us, and I actually enjoyed drinking the Ketel. I liked it so much that I did another shot of it with her when we all got together at Puck just yesterday.

I even like Ketel and Sprite better than Grey Goose and Sprite in terms of overall taste, plus it's a whole dollar cheaper than Grey Goose!

Used to love doing shots of Absolut. Then again I'm old enough to remember when vodka came in one flavour..it was vodka flavour.
