I personally think you hit this week's theme spot on. But it's not my opinion that matters lol.

@henryp Your photo is a strong one. Water is obviously a theme and I love the depth and contrast. I would perhaps bring a graduated dodge filter up from the bottom and a burn on top, just to the brighter sky and mountain don't pull all the attention from the darker water. Maybe keep an eye on that level horizon as well. Other than that I like this shot a lot! I'm impressed with the foreground, middle and background elements adding to the depth and am surprised that reflection of the mountains turned out so well. Must have been a nice still day over the waters :)

@wat0023 You really nailed the composition this week! My eye keeps popping up and down from the real deal to the puddle reflection. I'm judging on the photo alone but I'm also glad to hear you got out and shot a lot. The only critiques I would give would be to watch your exposure. I like that it's a little darker, implying a more moody/rainy/cloudy day, but I would maybe bring some highlights into the points of interest, especially the subject, just to make it pop that much more.

@SMKYTXN I really dig the leading lines, depth and overall feel of this image. That strong foreground detail is nice and sharp and the exposure and dynamic range is solid. The one thing I would keep an eye on in post is that the highlights on the grass draw the most attention from my eye, moreso than the water that is more muted. A little dodge and burn seems to be my go to critique this week ha. I like the contrasting color tones and composition a lot. Well done!

@Spintly I enjoy that your photo is different from the rest submitted. I always like to see uniqueness. It looks like you used a longer lens to compress the waves a bit here and I like the abstract nature of it. My eyes kind of keep wanting to see some grounding point, like a foreground or horizon, which keeps them engaged rather than moving on. This can be both a critique or a praise depending on what you're going for. Again, I would just keep an eye on your exposure and composition. If you're going to have a photo with just small wave details then getting the basics down perfectly goes a long way! Well done.

@2big4arunner This, for me, is the strongest photograph in general here. I'm still deciding whether it says "water" to me the most, but it is no doubt a very striking/strong photo! I really dig the dramatic lighting most of all! Your photo has the strongest impact and most wow factor when it comes to lighting as it is the only one I didn't think needed a bit of dodge and burn right off. The highlights are not blown on the lighter grass above the water, which is good, but that is the brightest area where my eye is drawn the most back to. If I look at the cool water, or sky/clouds or mountians my eye always cirlces back to the light and motion of the grass. Unique use of leading lines leading the eye out of the side of the frame rather than to the center is solid. I like it a lot! Great shot!

Now . . . y'all are killing me with trying to choose a photo this week. I feel like I could easily choose each one for different reasons SO I'm just going to think water and go with whatever stands out to me the most. Sorry if it's not yours, but know that I wanted to choose every one of them as I looked at them closer.

@wat0023 I'm going to go with your photo! Also, cool that your dog looks like a fox haha. Keep it up with the lighting, but overall yours stopped my eye over and over when I thought of Water and it's uniqueness and composition/mystery got me. Well done :D

For sure! And I hope no one took it as me telling them what to do or anything haha just the point of the thread is to get better and have fun so feedback or a different perspective sometimes helps. Looking forward to the challenge for this week.

I really agree with everyone of your comments this week and super appreciate the comment you made on my photo. I had really wished i Could have had more water and calm clean water to deal with but the "dramatic" look was fun to do.

Congrats @wat0023, your photo was very well taken and a great capture.
