    Whole bunch of shit! $$$
Im sure a tailgate is more than the OPs deductible, does it suck to shell out that cash, fuck yeah it does. And I am not blaming the victim, just stating the obvious. If tbe tailgate was locked, this would not have happened. In this day and age, with the junkies, the flunkies, the thieves , the murderers, etc etc etc... this option of locking your shit should be a common sense no brainer in this day and age. Some "people" dont give 2 fucks about you or your shit, protect yourself, your family and your property, at all costs. Preventative measures are too late after the incident has occurred. Good luck to you OP,I hope they catch the cocksucker who stole it and he gets a weekly visit from the prison sex therapist. A 6' 9" black dude or aryan brotherhood motherfucker that makes the theif his christmas present......

I think this might be a cheaper alternative way to protect your tailgate from being stolen. Anyone try this?

They'd need the right Torx bit, a drill, and about three more minutes, assuming you don't have a tonneau/cap/topper. Once the inner panel of the tailgate is removed, it becomes really easy to manually actuate the lock.

That's just a glorified hose clamp, with a cheap plastic cover and security screw head.

I'll tell you what, it's better than just an exposed hose clamp that can be removed with a flat head screw driver.

Just as easy to keep your tailgate locked. I live in a part of the country where thefts such as this are rare but I still keep my belongings locked.

Same here, mine's always locked and haven't heard of thefts like this in San Antonio. Still going to look into a Pop&Lock just because I like the idea of it locking with the doors. My girl's F150 locks with keyfob and I love it.

    LS1 swap with nitros.

    http://www.popandlock.net/tacoma-power-16-17?manufacturer_id=30

    edit - cheaper on Amazon.
    https://www.amazon.com/Pop-Lock-PL8...ie=UTF8&qid=1490632374&sr=8-1&keywords=PL8535

I'd also suggest you replace the screws that hold the inner tailgate lining to the truck. Get something with an unuaual head, such as security torx etc. so the slimeballs cannot open up the tailgate and disable the lock.
