I am qualified for every mechanical job because I got a 97 in that section of the ASVAB, with exception of 1 of 2 jobs that required also having an 85 in electrical, I dont get to pick from those 2.

I recommend you go in with a guaranteed job. That way your not having to choose between "shitty" jobs.

Thank you to all of you for your service. I was a Army National Guardsman for 7 years. Went in for GI Bill & scholarships only. Never went active. If I was to make a career out of the service it would have to be in the officer's corp. Screw going in as an E-1. If you go in as an E-1 hoping for a secure pay check than stick to Burger King.

OH NO! told you not to do this. going in "open" is not good. your gonna get the left over available jobs that people didnt sign up for and get guaranteed contracts for.

best of luck to ya and thanks for volunteering, but try to get a guaranteed job. nothing is finished until your on the plane heading for lackland

yea I signed all the papers and everything but didnt land a job for another 4 months then waited 2 more months for an opening in basic. It's worth the wait to get a good job. and untill you step off the bus at lackland you still have a say in everything. Your recruiter is working FOR YOU. dont let them push you around or "force" you into a job you dont want.

yeah thats right nothing is offical unlike your recruiter says, Try to get a job you want, you could be anything in you go general. Some jobs are not as cool as you think like fuel shop, hydraulics, i would get a guarantee job if your recruiter gives u problems threaten to go talk to an air guard recruiter he will guarantee you any job you want lol.

exactly. i was in DEP for 8 months waiting for my PJ slot. well worth the wait. you tell the recruiter how things are gonna work or you pack up and leave. when they think they are gonna loose you, their story will change. they also bank on the fact that they think you dont know what your talking about and can BS you. show them you know whats up and their whole attitude changes all of a sudden

    good luck
