Did you have a chance to go all the way thru? I believe its only good road 16/17 miles in from saddle, then has the rough section to Keanakolu, then from keanakolu to Waimea they had to regrade that recently. I havent been on the saddle portion of mana in the last 6 months but thru my whole life ive seen it regraded and about 10 years ago they asphalted over the Wailuku river portion and some other gulch areas. When I was a kid, there was still a lot of the original cobble stone road way that my parents had traveled over when they first ventured the big island together in the early 70s. All of it now is mostly gravel, except some spots inbetween like near the doctors pit. About 3 or 4 years ago they made the "old" road nice on the Deluz portion but before that it was good fun. I still travel on the makai road way of that section just cause the other part is too nice.

I know they were trying to pave 10 miles in from saddle to the hakalau forest reserve area about 5 years ago. I dont support that idea but then again I cant stop it. One of the major reasons I stop going that side is cause the gorse. I feel bad for the mountain but eh, Hawaii is going down hill and getting shittier as the days go by. May as well enjoy whats there….its hard to not step on anyones toes now days.

Yeah I did the whole thing from Waimea to saddle. From right after the cabins they graded it and made it smoother. All gravel and stuff now.

That was the last section to do so people can drive a regular car all the way thru again.

A lot of people were having a tough time right near the cabins when it was muddy.

Been lurking for awhile on here. Good to see Big Island being represented well on the board. Just put in my toytec lift on my 2016 tacoma and been doing a ton of reading on the boards. Any body know of a local shop other than the notch to get rims and tires? Shoots fellaz

if you looking for BFG's, can't really beat Costco. I was quoted around $900 for a set (4 285's) of KM2's, installed... maybe a year ago. your mileage may vary on the installation of tires at costco though. lots of people run into problems trying to install tires larger than stock there. the guy I talked to was cool about it and said he would do it personally. not sure if the notch carries Cooper, but Cooper (from Lex Brodie's) seem to be pretty popular. I have a set of 255/85/16 ST Maxx and it works really well. ultra quiet on the street too.

as far as rims, not too sure... the notch carries a lot of big wide styles, so I guess it depends what you're looking for. I have a set from FN, and they shipped from the mainland for like $100 I believe... maybe less.

Braddah here is right. BFG and Costco is the best price. I had to take my rims off and bring them down though to get them installed. I got 265/75r16.... if you wait for their sale, you can get $70 off a set of 4. i got Kbro2's and don't regret it one bit. fucking amazing tire. lots of people hate on them but i have put my through hell and they never failed me yet. i do air down to about 20psi or so, depending on where i'm going. havent chipped them yet

Yes I'm planning on buying a cheap set of wheels from Amazon. And I already got a quote from Costco On the T/A KO2's. Gonna have them mount and balance off the truck and Ill install them at my cousins shop.

Plus I contacted the bro from 3hills off-road in Oahu ordered the expo springs, and the flip kit (only shitty thing is its freight coming through YB I'm gonna have to go pick it up when it arrives late April to early May)
and got longer 5100's shocks from summit racing (total cost was $207 came in already 2days priority shipping )
It's just hard being on an island and having to wait on shipping, I wish everything could be prime from amazon. :amen: I bet everyone else feels the same

Yea I figured go for it cause I saved on shipping go for the expo's and a flip kit, front I got Ome 2885 and bilstein 5100 at full lift, rear right now cheap AAL and 0-1" bilstein 5100.
So front nose is in the air rear can't tell there's a lift.
    Stupid question, what's the b110's?
