You could very easily make a tie rod that has heim's on either end with a thin guage tubing "fuse" in the center... I would never do this for a paying customer though. Too much liability of it snapping and sending your customer off in to la la land.

I personally do not necessarily buy in to leaving a stock TRE as the weak point, I would upgrade regardless.... Then again I am not a fan of running a kit with a factory upright either.... The true problem is the rack. 2nd gen owners need to upgrade to a Tundra rack and be done with it. 1st gens are currently still fucked.

I asked TC on their Mint400 page, they said they would get pictures posted soon, but no write up. I wish they would!

No write up that I know of, Solo uses a 07+ rack on 2nd gen tacos... I have a Solo 4.5" kit sitting on my work bench waiting for me to get a vehicle ready to install it. Once I have that together my friend is close with Bobby of Solo and will get the details.

From what I understand it requires some fab-work, but is fairly straight forward.

I checked solo's tundra rack last time I was there. It's fucking huge compared to the stock rack. Downside for me is its all custom machined so if you need to replace it in 10 years, hopefully the company that solo outsourced is still in business

It's a ton of work and an inhouse install only. They will not just sell you the rack

It's really not bad compared to other options. 2500 but I can't remember if that included the rack

Too much work for what I do. I'll keep the stock rack and stock TRE's. I just did a 2700 mile trip thru Baja and looking forward to more.

Nice, are you still on the factory rack?

My buddies said we passed you near Gecko in Glamis... I was in my new sand car and was hoping to check your truck out, bummed I missed it.
