Or go classic and go to the A&W in middlebury for some food then go to the National Forest in Ripton which is like 15min from there, Texas Falls is pretty sweet there with a walking path to see all the falls I'll look for pictures of it

That's freaking awesome. I'm down to go to A and W for some grub and head to Ripton to check out the falls. I've got family in Middlebury and always looking for a reason to eat at A and W. I've been meaning to check out the falls, I pass the sign Everytime I head home from Middlebury.

I'm down for some food followed by a trip through the GMNF! Texas falls is a really cool spot, these pictures are from when my friend and I went out that way in September

Yea I've done the hike a few times and it's nice, also there are some brook trout in there! Nothing too big but enough to have a nice snack! There is a logging trail but I'm not sure if it's closed off or not.. sounds like the ball is rolling on this meet! Guess next would be to post a page or topic and then figure out dates!

As I understand it, Vermont law states you can't have any tint on your head or tail lights. Also no tint for a regular cab? Anybody get away with this?

Yes but I'm not sure about this year. No tint on front windows or windshield. You can paint your rear window if you have both side mirrors. I run leds in my tails so they appear normal for light output. I will be having to prep some for inspection I think.
My issue will be tire size, tpms, tint, aftermarket lights not branded by dot. I've never had a tpms light since I bought it in 11. I'm not sure why I don't have a tpms light on now!!
I'll be taking my dash apart to see if it's just covered.

Good to know about the rear window. What is the factory % tint on it? 35% maybe?

You will pass this year, but maybe not next year. This year is the grace period year. Unless its bad , like breaks or worn tires. I have had two vehicles go thru the new inspection so far. Both passed but on the truck had extra lights that where a concern.

Yes I heard the same about it for this year. Mechanically I'm sound and the garage I use knows us well. Just not sure how the new system ties their hands.

from what I saw pictures of everything IE: vehicle in the shop, door tag, your reg., your new sticker (if you get one), vehicle turned to the on position to show there is not a engine light on, any reason that it fails is documented with pics.

they hook up to the onboard computer to see if you have cleared and check engine lights.
everything is done on a tablet from the state (the shop has to buy or rent the tablet)
what use to take 25-30 mins now takes 45 to 50 min that is why the price is going up.

I would not buy a used vehicle unless it has an inspection now days.
in the next few years there is going to be a lot of used cars for sale.

    sorry its so long

Wait so what exactly is happening with state vehicle inspection? Did something change? Thanks for posting that link, really helpful. Reading through that has shown me that the two different inspection stations I went to were trying to scam me into buying parts I didn't need, by saying I failed, when I clearly didn't.

So what shops are supposed to inspect hasn't changed. Maybe the tpms thing has changed, before you couldn't have a light on and now it's to be tested.
It's the new automated electronic reporting system that has changed. If the shop did all this for inspection it would be pretty time consuming.
With the system the state can actually interact with the garage doing the work.
Again I haven't been through it myself. A guy at works kid is a tech and was saying (again hearsay) pics of tire marking to check dates, proper tire size. Pics of the underside on the lift. Pics of the vehicle on the lift. Pics of the inside looking for obstructions. Etc.
