Going from MT to AT

So im thinking of ditching my 285/70/17 Nitto Trail Grapplers Load C for one of the following in the same size: Nitto Ridge Grappler, KO2, Duratrac, Some other aggressive AT but not quite an MT.

I am doing much more highway driving then anticipated which is why ive been thinking about switching in hopes of a better ride, slightly better mpg, and less noise, also not a fan of how the Trail Grapplers like to follow the contour of the road.

Is it worth making the switch? My Trail Grapplers have 10k miles on them and still have a ton of tread left so i dont NEED new tires. I figure i can recoup a good chunk of the cost of new tires by selling my current ones.

 

I'd just wait until the Trail Grapplers needed to be replaced, and then get something else, just not the KO2.

 

Find out what mpg you're getting currently.

Find out what mpg you anticipate getting from all terrains.

If the difference over time is greater than the price you'll pay to switch tires, then it would be the smarter move financially.

Tread life out of the tires also plays a small difference. All terrains will usually last longer.

 

Good way of thinking about it, however MPG is not my main motivator. More intrested in ride quality and on road performance and how drastic the diffrencenter will be

From what I've read, K02s and Duratracs don't really ride that great. Even in C load. Not sure about ST MAXXs, but they're another choice for an aggressive all terrain.

 

Haha you deffinatly supported the financial side of the decision.

 

I have the KO2s, they ride great, quiet, and at 45lbs for C 265 70 17 they don't hurt the fuel economy.
I like the Toyo AT2 as well, some of the trucks on here look good with them, good reviews for being tough.
