Finally drove the Tacoma yesterday. The steering wheel shake is gone now! And I can't notice the wear on the tires now on the rear axle. Do you guys really get alignments? I want new tires every 10k miles and since that is a couple years for my truck I just toss the worn ones an buy a new set and wheels usually. I do like the Method wheels.

Alright guys... need some help.. :pout: :help:

Many of you have met my parents, some of you know the Business predicament they are dealing with. Times have been better.. Anyways, my parents'car just died on them. It was their only vehicle and they are in a tough spot currently. It's an 03 Monte Carlo 3.4 v6. Heads are cracked and it has 165k on it. The car is only worth a few thousand probably. They were quoted $2500 up north for a shop to do the swap. Parts look to be around the $700 range. Heads around 300 plus gaskets, misc materials, etc.

I am trying to help them figure out the best option. My mom called and gave me a heads up that if they decide to try and tackle the swap themselves, if I could come up and help.. absolutely.. but.. is it worth it? I really want to see them just get out of this car.. but they are on a tight budget. Enough to maybe have it repaired at a shop, if the price is right. I would much rather them have it fixed, then try and do it ourselves. I just know it will turn into a bigger thing and I don't want them struggling anymore than they are currently. That's just more stress they don't need right now.

Do we try and fix it and hope it gets them by until they are in a better position? Do we just let a shop do it? Do we scrap it for as much money as possible and get some other cheaper car (would switch to truck) to get them by? Lookin for some pointers or info.. Shops, cheap vehicles to get them by, opinions... Thanks in advance guys..

That's my thinking too, and what I told them. They need out of that.

so.. the craigslist search starts I suppose. A truck would be ideal.

Anything with a bed that will last em a while is all that matters.. lol fullsize is a plus just because my Stepdad is a big dude.. 6'4", ex football player.. so a pre-taco/tacoma might be too small.

dump the vehicle. Its not worth fixing it. If they can get into a car for the same money that is more reliable. Probably wont be pretty, but everyone Ive known to have those monte carlos had it because it was a good deal when they bought it. Not because it was a great dependable car.

well, if your pop is a big guy, he'd have to try it. I remember my dodge and my dads dodge pu had terrible lumber when new. Other than that, my dads gas burner ran well. I had a diesel
