    Stock....ish
Bilstien has been building their stuff for decades where as toytec seems to be cheap in my opinion. Could be wrong though

Pretty sure the Toytec boss kit is just a rebranded bilstein 5100 with a threaded body instead of a move able cup.

I'm going to look in to this and if it's true, I'll def just go with the Bilsteins

Any one know a 2nd gen MGM, with license plate THOR3AU or some variation of that?
I was behind them playing follow the leader down a dirt road off 234 tonight at 630.

I can't tell you which one is better, but what I can do is say why I went with what looks like the same setup for my 2nd gen. For the front I chose the 5100s with 887 coils because that should get me right at 3" without any preload on the 5100 (leaving it at the "0" setting). I also went with the extended travel 5100s in the back because that extra travel will compliment the massive dakar packs nicely, whereas a shorter or regular travel rear shock would be quickly limited with the dakar and probably leave your rear tire hanging in the air when you need it planted on the ground.

Wow thanks for sharing. I would assume the same size/brand of tire with less ply would weigh less.

No problem man, I'd imagine the C rated tire wouldn't be as stiff. I have the C in the terra grappler.

I got the bilsteins 5100 front and back with OME 885 up front. 3 leaf progressive aal in rear. For the price it is great and done me well. If I were to do it again. I would add extended length 5160 in rear with Dakar leaf pack and extended break lines to start. Because I plan on camping and packing a lot of crap back there and an RTT on my shell. If you aren't and just going with a soft topper or tonneau I would say OME or bilstein and use the extra cash for other stuff. I don't have any experience with the foxes but i hear they are good.

It really depends on what you are gonna use the truck for the most and if you wanna pay. They are pretty capable with some good tires and basic 2.5-3 in lift. If in a couple years you want more sell it and upgrade the kit. Just my experience though.

Now the real question is which beer are we gonna drink when we install at this mod day?

That makes total sense. I plan on grabbing a Tyger Tri Fold tonneau cover, but other than that, nothing really in the bed... no RTT or rack or anything... So I think I'm going to stay with the Bilstein 5100s (extended length in the rear) OME 888 springs, OME trim packer on drivers side, and 1/4" spacers on the top of both struts, and the AAL in the rear.

extended brake lines, UCAs, etc... can always be added later.

Plus with the money I save by not doing the Toytec lift, I am going to go ahead and order my tonneau and my Tyger Armor steps

and I think I'm going to stick with the 285s instead of 295s to minimize :sawzall:

and NOW I finally feel like I have some clarity, and it's time to have my morning :pccoffee:

yea man, I think you posted a review that got me actually looking at their tonneau cover as well... I've had their "Star Armor" steps / sliders on 2 other vehicles and they are awesome so I knew I was going to buy those.... they seem to make high quality stuff!

Did you ever use a hilift with those steps? How thick is the tubing? What are they rated at? Do they work as sliders or more cosmetic?

I did actually (once).... on my JK... I didnt have a problem at all...

however, the full weight of the Jeep wasnt on it, I just needed to push it up a little to get it above a rut

If I needed to do it again, I would use a small strap to wrap around the slider and hook that to the hi lift.... it would be much more stable.....

but that's the case w/ any tubular slider.... I dont feel comfortable putting the hi lift directly on the slider
