First flag his postings on Craigslist, then make your own posts saying beware of this seller and explaining that he isn't using his own address, then post the correct address for meets with him and state some form of a warning if buyers of his are parked by your house. I'm betting that once he sees that, and you tell him that you're going to make an identical post every day until he stops, he will quit his shit.

Not yet...I've been looking on CL, Close5, OfferUp, and LetGo. I'll keep monitoring all these sites.

He may have sold all his stuff. He sold like 4 boxes yesterday. Then again maybe he decided to "go silent".

Hypocritical much? You have no idea what he's doing, except for what he told you when you confronted him, yet want to find a way to stop it? You assume he's up to no good based on the car he drives, the fact he rents and doesn't own the house he lives in, sells cell phones/electronics in a public place just a few feet from your property and conclude he's using your address for his CL deals. Can you even prove he uses your address or, are you again jumping to a prejudged conclusion?

He's doing nothing illegal that you can prove. All you can do is stay vigilant and cover your bases. Write down times and dates with license plate numbers. If something does go awry you'll have hopefully some useful info to pass onto the police. Not just a "uh 911, there's a guy selling electronics on the side of my street, I don't like it"

Regardless of what he is selling and whether or not it is legal, he (the seller) doesn't want people to know where he lives for a good reason.

Hell yes get advice from the police department.

That's super shady. I'd get the cops involved and as a lot of other have stated, security camera's. I have 9 camera's, all WiFi, and they do a great job at seeing the weird shit my neighbors do. You can get a decent 1080p wireless cam for around $100 these days.

The first incident that happened a month ago, he had one customer on the side of my house and one customer parked in assigned parking across from my house. All simultaneously.

I get the feeling he gets stuff all at once and moves it quickly.

BTW I live only 8 miles from a huge mall, 1.5 miles from 2 shopping plaza's, 3/4 mile from a gas station, and 5 miles from a police department. All of these places are great for selling meetups. I do this occasionally as well at these public spots.

This guy could walk to the gas station to meet people, but that requires effort. He could drive his car, but seeing the state of his car, this would be with risk of it breaking down. It sounds bad when it runs.

It's as if he's working hard to expend a minimum of effort. It's all very interesting.

When I was younger I worked some real crappy low wage jobs to get by and pay my own way. I remember what it was like to make $3.30 an hour. But I also remember the great feeling of accomplishment to have my own apartment and my own car. While my buddies were all partying I was working. Occasionally I'd join the fun but I always took care of things first.

Typically people running a legitimate business don't have a problem with conducting it at their own address. I don't think that the OP is off base here; if I had similar happening in front of my house on a regular basis I'd consider it cause for concern as well. Even if people's GPS is sending them to the wrong location, the OP has asked the neighbor to stop selling his products in front of the OP's property. Correcting the GPS error is as easy as the neighbor telling his customers to drive a little further down the street, to where he lives.

What's hypocritical about a guy claiming he makes "a living" at something and me noting the fact based on the evidence I see in plain view that his idea of living is building an empire of crap that involves my property. If his idea of "living" means freeloading and using my property to do his thing, then he needs to obviously re-think things.

If he wants to use his property to do his stuff, then that's his business. It becomes my business when it's my property. Not a hard concept.

So it's a legitimate business now? I'll just roll out my jump to conclusions floor mat and guess that it's not even a business, he'd need a business license for that. As it is, it's Joe blow selling old iPhones and Samsung's on the side. Is he making enough money to where he is required to report his income? Probably not. Again, he's engaging in what seems to me a legal activity of selling used electronic devices in a public place, which is NOT ILLEGAL. Also last I checked, being/looking shady is not illegal either.

If my neighbor wants to sell some of his shit on CL and invite his would be buyers to his house, that's his right. If one of his would be buyers knocked on my door by mistake I'd send him across the street, followed by suggesting to my neighbor he should be more descriptive about his house so future buyers would not be confused.

If there was a lot of traffic day and night, that would raise an eyebrow/concern for me, as "normal" people typically perform b/s/t activities during "normal" daytime hours.

I'm sorry, I thought you said you live in a townhouse? Are you confusing that little strip of grass between the sidewalk and the street as "your property"? I could be wrong, but that belongs to the HOA. Your property ends at your door. You stated yourself that you pay HOA dues for upkeep, which I'm sure includes landscaping and exterior building maintenance. At least that's how friends of mine have explained the way their townhouse community works.

Not trying to be a dick, just trying to see if you have a complaint for your HOA or the police. If it's actually your property you should be able to have him trespassed.

I think that you may have missed that the point of my post was that it's probably NOT a legitimate business... But if it'll make you happy...
Typically people running a legitimate side hustle, selling products that aren't illegal, whatever, don't have a problem doing it at their own address. Does that terminology satisfy you?

Given that the neighbor seems to be exclusively conducting business in front of somebody else's house, even after being asked not to, it doesn't seem like he's inviting them to his house, correct? Given that the OP has already spoken to the neighbor about not doing it, without success, I think that his irritation is justified.

Call the police and let them know your concerns. Then let them decide if it's something they want to check out. Either way there will then be a record of your concern in the event that something happens. And really, if it walks like a duck and sounds like a duck... Chances are good it's stolen stuff, drugs, or whatever. At the very least this guy isn't paying his taxes... lol.

You might also want to share your concerns with the landlord, assuming you know them. If they're made aware of possible illegal activity going on in their house it'd good for them to know about it, and I assume it creates a liability on them if they don't do anything.

The townhouse community I live in is set up as a residential community with driveways and sizable yards in the front and back. There is a common area behind everyone's back yard. This is where the dogs poop and the kids play.

People defending shady activity such as this smell like birds of the same feather. If the salesman did not respond to OP request to conduct his business at his own house or elsewhere I think a big lawn party set up on social media with the salesman's address and signage pointing to it would be in order. Fire with fire sorta thing. And for the defenders of the salesman's crap.....if the salesman's practices aren't wrong then neither is the lawn party at his house.......every wknd, until sales go elsewhere. Townhouse complex, yes - business park, nope.

the activity you describe is how organized crime operates

    I would do all this

a meeting and discussion with local law
    and also county sheriff

    the homeowners association

    all your other neighbors

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd put a big wooden sign right out at the curb saying in big letters

nothing for sale here, the idiot selling is two doors down
don't park here don't stop here go two doors down for your shady deals
    ---------------------------------------------------------
    and then wait

also a fuckton of internet connected 24x7 cameras streaming directly to
    online storage.

and if you do not currently 'carry' get the work done to self-protect

    -----------
and drop a dime with the FBI and tell them you suspect organized crime activity
they will note it and will poke around a little bit or tell you not to worry

it's your friggin home man, your castle...you have all the rights in the world to raise a stink for shady activity. Normal people follow the rules and act legit...this dude ain't that

Let the police look into it. They will most likely be glad to come have a chat with your neighbor.
