Alright. Cruiser ran great after the fuel sock replacement. Today, I drive it around in the rain to pick a friend up for a project. Get going again and it starts losing power under acceleration again. Far worse this time.

Any ideas? Maybe something electrical that is getting wet? I thought it was the fuel pump but I don't think it would be as inconsistent?

    Yep, EFI.

Transmission has shifted strong since I have owned it. No smell of fuel in the cab. When I pulled the fuel pump the tank looked great but the filter needed the change.

Basically it drives fine and out of no where, while accelerating, its like it just stops. No power, engine doesnt rev, and it chokes. I let off the gas pedal and it starts back at it but soon as I start to accelerate it will do it again. If I were to pull over it would idle just fine. I have never ran out of gas, but if I did, I would assume it would feel like this. It's not something I can readily repeat either. I have drove all over town trying to recreate it. Just seems to happen but its been happening far more often and worse when it does.

Maybe the MAF and throttle body? Doubt they have been cleaned in years.

    couldn't hurt to clean those.

If the pump filter needed changed, did you also change the fuel filter on the lines? Could be full of all shorts of shit.

had a fuel pump go out in two cars and that was like how you described in both. took them a month to fail from when the symptoms started. I would take your 3k offers today lol!

@Blackdawg I only changed the filter on the pump.

Lol, that offer is down in colorado and I don't want to attempt to drive it down there  otherwise I probably would have sold it yesterday. If its the fuel pump I am not too worried. At least that's a simple swap.

well i not a LC guy..not familiar with the motor system. But im am guessing there is another filter just like on the tacoma that is inline of the fuel line somewhere before it gets to the fuel rail. Id change that too. May as well do the pump too.

what is the year and motor?

91 and the 3fe motor. I'll see if I can pick up a fuel pump somewhere in town and swap it out. That's what I originally thought it was but I would assume it would be a consistent issue.

can't hurt. Fuel filter is on the passenger side frame rail right above the axle i think.
