i agree, thats not a OEM shock though, this is a lifted setup. just bolting on parts blindly gives poor results (as seen in some posts lol)

Noted. Stepped up to 2.5s, so it is a non-issue in my case. But I still wouldn't do it to my truck.

Lol. It's not an investment like that ICON lift. We're talking $20 at HF for an angle grinder.

Lol...that's like a brake pad manufacturer telling you to notch your caliper so your brake can work properly.

Notching that bracket is a bandage fix no matter how you spin it. Instead of redesigning the fitting, they chose to just update the instruction with a workaround at the customer's expense. Greedy, cost cutting measure if you ask me.

Same. Had no hesitation grinding the rivets out of the stock bump striker plates. The difference is grinding material off shit you still need. Have you seen what the LT guys do for Icon coilovers?

I am by no means an Icon pro but I have been wrenching on things a long time. All I have to say is the fitting and line looks way to close to the bucket. Anyone with any mechanical aptitude can see that the shock is mounted in rubber and will move as you flex the suspension and is likely to contact. Personally I would have called Icon during the install to verify at which point they probably would have told you to notch the bucket. That is just my 2 cents and it probably would have saved you a lot of trouble.

And that is not to make excuse for a poor design. I agree a different fitting would have easily solved the problem, but you are modifying your truck which requires a little due diligence on your part. Hopefully all that is required is a tightening of the fitting and a refill.
