Newbie here looking for some advice. Found a 2016 DCLB 4x4 with 25k miles (no tech pack) for $32,900.

From what I can tell it's a fairly good price for a hard to find truck.

Anyone have experience purchasing a truck from Carmax? Should I jump on this?!?

I haven't bought from them but their financing is weird as shit.

We have one locally, I did some test drives. Their "best credit" interest rate is double what the local CUs are at here, and I asked about financing and they said CarMax does it in house, and they won't rate match until after 3 months of payments.

Seemed super weird to me, and to the best guess, 99% of their cars are prior rentals.

Pricing was decent. I liked everything else about the experience, but rental cars and weird financing turned me off.

Carmax I visited had a "no haggle" price

No haggle but they also don't budge on the price

Plus never finance through them, horrible rates

I have my financing covered through my bank. So I should be good on that side of it.

Get a carfax and secure your own financing. I think you have 3 days to return car if you don't like it. Use that window to get a mechanic to check everything or see if a local toyota dealer can do an inspection. Their cars go through an inspection as well and whatever needs to be fixed is when sellers bring their cars in for trade. We bought a Nissan Maxima for my wife a few years ago and never had any problems.

Definitely planned on purchasing a carfax report but good idea on the Toyota dealership inspection!

Personally for 32,900 I'd consider looking around, in my opinion the off road is the trim to buy because of the suspension, rims, crawl control, rear diff locker and other off road features. Just my two cents. But if you prefer the sport, then heck yeah sweet truck, the double cab long bed is the way to go!

I've purchased 3 vehicles from Carmax. Take your own financing with you and the process is virtually pain free. The price is the price, so you can shop that price around before you even go if you want. I've always left feeling like they do a better job than a branded dealership. just my two cents.

    I don't think that's a good price.

Not sure if it's SoCal in general, but that combination of truck is near impossible to find. We seem to have a small number of 4x4s but also wanting DCLB makes it tricky to find.

What do you think it should be priced at?

You can buy a new 17 SR5 DCSB for the same price.

    Thanks for the input!

Is the truck you listed comparable? Non TRD and non 4x4. The 4x4 is at least a $2500-3000 adder. Most new TRD 4x2 at the dealers near me are starting at $38k.

I paid $33.5k OTD for my 17 TRD Sport DCSB 4x2 in SoCal. My guess is that you can find a 17 TRDOR DCLB for about $37k OTD, which is the same price you'd pay for that 16 with 25k miles.

I think the real take away is I need to not purchase a truck in SoCal. But then you have plane ticket cost/ drive home cost. Or the cost of shipping it.
