Its not really going to have a lot of pressure on it but a little pressure on the tire will be better than a floating tire :D

This makes sense, I feel my truck does well now, was just curious if there was anyways to get more flex while staying useable and rational.

My truck is at 23k miles but I've been dicking around at the dealer enough as it is. I just got my fucking truck back after a week while they replaced the gauge cluster for random uninitiated trip meters reset and needles ticking. I get it home and find a shock is leaking and the needle bearing is grinding. I'm taking matters into my own hands at this point because I'm not in a position to trade it in just yet. Literally have been to the dealer on average once a month for issues. Replaced Rear Diff, replaced leaf springs. Rear brake shoes were fucked up and had to be replaced. Sure they will replace the needle bearing then it will take a shit again in 1500 to 15000 miles....your guess is as good as mine. Permanent fix seems to be the bushing so I'll go this route.

What rear pack are you running now?

The whole point of a rear shock relocation is to allow certain leaf packs to be ran. With the stock shock location, there is only so much room to fit a big shock (to accommodate droop) but then you may bottom out the shock before bump resulting in having to bump the truck so that it doesn’t do that loosing up-travel.

Its a complicated game that many tw members help me try to figure out an am still learning about setups and the way suspension setups work all the time

He's been bitching about his truck since day one. He won't sell it otherwise he's loose the attention he gets on this website.

I have Dakars now with stock shackles and bistein 8" shocks.. I did some measuring and I could fit a 10" shock out back no problem if i added to my bump stops a little bit to cover the longer collapsed length. I would give up about .5-.75" of up travel but gain about 2" down travel, so i would gain an inch or inch and a half of actual travel, and this would also keep my tire off my rear fender and negate the rubbing issue i get at full stuff.

but if im going to do all that, i wanted to see if i could just get a better setup and what people were putting together because most people i read with shock relocations are measuring about 12" of wheel travel which i think you can get close too with the stock mounts according to my measurements...

Seems like you know what you want then?

Aren’t you running 33s? Weird that mine dont really rub out back.

Just have to decide if losing roughly a inch of up-travel is worth the minimal droop travel. Tacomas with soa dont really have a lot of up travel to begin with so another thing to think about

Also, if you keep your current setup where the shocks are limiting your droop your gonna ruin those shocks if you dont strap it

This is why i was wondering what some others were doing, you're one of the few trucks that seems to have been able to make full use of your shock relocation.. judging by photos that is... if I would be adjusting bumps and buying new shocks the thought came about as to kind of redoing the rear suspension to get the most out of it.... but being as most shock relocations i read up on didnt seem TOO much more travel than my measurements with my leaf pack and some well measured shocks i was curious if i was missing something..

Even when I had 33s I would rub a lot on the front of the wheel well. I have the Dakar pack. Once I installed the AllPro relocation plates and moved the axle back 3/4" I stopped rubbing. I can now get good stuff with my 295/75s. I see most people with the Dakar pack end up with relocation plates.

If your already buying new shocks and bumps a shock relocation really doesn't cost too much more, just a lot of time and knowledge.

I've adjusted my rear setup 3 times now and am going to have to readjust it again this summer but will be the final time. Kind of like trial and error without being able to follow someone exactly (which would have helped me tremendously)

Im not too worried about spending the cash, or doing the work, i just wanted to see what some people were doing to get some good useable rear flex to help me decide....

I hear ya. I spent hours and hours and hours reading peoples build threads about relocations, angles, possibilities, different leaf packs which helped me. Just a lot of reading and digging through peoples threads etc

I can get you the owners email if you'd like. I do not have his TW handle or anything else though.

Pretty easy! Just wasn't super sure how far back to put the bushing haha

Right now I get about 10.5" of wheel travel. That's from flat leafs to full droop, limited by leafs. I'm not running rear bumps still, which adds about 1.5" of up travel, giving me a full 12".

I have 12" fox shocks in the rear, which is about 14" of shock travel. In my research the only way to get more travel was lt leafs or Chevy 63s, both of which I wasn't willing to put in the work.

What trails have you done that you've gotten the rear tire off the ground? I can't recall if I've done that yet, but it's a ton of travel to do that. Full stuff and close to full droop? Don't know how much more I had.

    78241.jpg 78237.jpg

Do you recall how much travel you had? Are these still available?

Oh @JTB727 I found an older pic of my rear droop. This is just the OME rear.
