Shit, you and Jay should come join us! Planning on going Tuesday evenings.

I try to teach my girls mechanical things, but they are more interested in flora & fauna. Can't complain.

Awe I usually work Tuesday nights :/

Diablo rock got me into slacklining. Maybe we can picnic nstead? Like a Sunday when the weather gets nicer? And invite jay anyway. I used to be so into rock climbing. We've just been golfing instead.

Jay can teach your girls how to grow weed. I mean raspberries.

Definitely down. Girls would love slacklining.

And the girls picked these buds over the weekend.

I don't think many people know how to appreciate the importance of things like working on cars.

I've been told I only work on my own cars because I'm cheap/broke.

That's bullshit. So you can fix something in a day where the dealership/ mechanic takes weeks?

Ya we have shit under warranty for the truck and we have to put pressure on them to get things done on time but when we had the old Honda my dad would come out and help jay to get shit fixed. It makes more sense that way, especially if you have the time.

    That's awesome.

I picked up skiiing again to teach my son. Im finding skiing is pretty fun on groomer days. (I live close enough to Dodge that I ski every weekend so I'm not picky)

I still snowboard on powder days though... nothing like laid back s-turns in powder on a snowboard.

It's funny when I tell people that I do all my own maintenance and repairs on my cars and they respond like that.

My dad owned a repair shop until he retired so I get to work on my stuff with his pro tools and knowledge.

The only time I didn't like working on my pickup was when it was my DD and I was trying to mod it in a weekend... I did my suspension and cross over steering in one day... awful to have that pressure. I have a spare car now so I don't run into that.

I really enjoy diagnosing car problems and fixing it. It's one of the reasons I joined TW so I can learn to do my own maintenance on my new Tacoma. That and usually if there are widespread problems you learn about them on forums like this. (I use an Acura forum for repairs on my wife's car, has saved me a ton of money ie $.85 o ring fix when I was ready to replace the power steering pump) Good times.

Doing as much of my own maintenance as I can is what brought me here. My dad was a shade tree mechanic. He did have to force me to help him when I was in my teens, but I appreciate it now. I plan to teach my daughters as much as I can so they are confident about their own cars and hopefully won't get scammed when they have to have a shop look at something.

I do most of my own maintenance and work unless it's something I'm not confident in like gears and transmissions because I'd also rather have someone else take the responsibility. Sometimes doing my own maintenance and ended with throwing things, But it's worth it in the end. Bad part about doing my maintenance is the MIL and all my friends know I have an idea of what I'm doing. Every chance they get they cash that friend coupon.

I tell people this all the time. Just cause you have a girl doesn't mean you can't do certain things.

Having said this she is now 14 and has found an interest in boys. So when one comes over I walk them out to my garage and show them all my reloading supplies and targets and explain how I have no problem hitting a paper plate at 700 yards :quickdraw:

You should toss every boy a bullet and tell them if they hurt your daughter another will come a whole lot faster.

WTF? I would have forbid that action. I would have removed the Woodford from play and given them some rotgut whiskey.

    That's just plain wrong!
