I was watching some you tube and saw a red 1st gen with a bed rack that was a different design from the norm. For the life of me I cant find the video so I can check it out a bit closer. I'm pretty sure it was a "tacoma world" labeled video from one of the members but I can't be positive.
Anyway, the rack had a long bar from cab to tailgate up high with a 45deg slope down to the gate area about 75% of the way back. it seemed to only have two cross bars going width wise and had expanded metal possibly laying flat on top. No bars running vertical that I noticed between front and back.... ring any bells with anyone?

thanks in advance... my google foo seems to be weak!

I have been searching for a decently designed bedrack for awhile and have only came across the normal A.P. and BAMF styled ones. I was searching for one as you described with the 45 degree bend in the back with no results. Seems going custom is the only option. =/ However, if you come across anything please post. I will be very interested.

I'm looking into something like CBI's overland rack but will most likely go the custom route since I have a retrax bed cover. Is this similar to what you're describing?

Yes, but without everything on the sides, vertical and horizontal. More of a slope at rear also. I would guess this one was custom but cant be sure.

Don't point and laugh at my editing skills, but something like this, but had expanded metal across the top horizontal surface from side to side.badrack.jpg

I've seen that before as well...was the red 1st gen you saw it on a double cab? If so, I have pics of it on my home computer.

no, I'm afraid not. It was bright red and the down slope on the back was much more angled, closer to 45-60 degrees.

Darn, well if ya find it, post it up. I should be getting a custom rack made soon. Just working out the little details (trying to make sure I have everything I need the first time).

Only one I can think of that seems similar to what you're describing is a rack built by @RelentlessFab
It's not on their website, so I think their bed racks are likely custom jobs. The pictured one has the side rotopax mounts, though.

Nope, it was a first gen and did not go over the roof, just bed only.

It was most likely custom, but it did not have any of the middle vertical bars along the sides. this shape is much closer to what I saw though!

Nice. Looks similar to that Relentless one I posted earlier. Looks like a Relentless front bumper as well, so maybe it was made by them?

I thought it might be. The one with a BL and 35's? I thought I heard that truck was totaled, or Eric got rid of it? But maybe I'm thinking of somebody else.
