Same thing happened to mine, sent them in to get a rebuild and I plan to notch my shock bucket before reinstalling, lesson learned

That's not the issue. I know I can fix it. I contacted them mostly to get it refilled, since it has been pouring out fluids. I thought it wouldn't be an issue. But I sure was wrong

I can't really blame the installer on this unless there was a big red sticker on the shock informing the buyer to review updated install instructions. If I've installed the same item multiple times, after the second or third time I'm not going to look at the instructions again.

Seems like Icon was having issues with the old way (that many people have used) and decided to change the instructions. A first time installer might catch it, but a repeat customer most likely won't. For something as important as voiding warranty, I'd expect some red tape somewhere.

Feel bad for the OP. Not the first time I've heard of Icon issues, and sure won't be the last. I don't care if they have thousands of happy customers, it's how you treat them when there is a flaw in your design. Voiding warranty or making the customer cover shipping back to you for a defective part is ridiculous.

OP, I'm going to link a thread I started a bit ago. Please chime in with story, pictures, and the manufacturer's response.

Sorry OP for being in this spot and for Icon not working on their own shocks anymore. Maybe try calling/writing/texting/emailing them with a little more..."I've been an Icon customer for 4 years now and never had any problems until..." That was my approach/situation with them and it worked for me when I had a cracked top hat. Or just forget Icon and go fix it?

Couldn't of said it better, says a lot about a company to entertain the unknown instead of just throwing the customer to the curb. And blue cause KING BITCHES!!!

That was a good one. That one went deep. Threads like these are what swayed me to Kings. The little extra was well worth it in my opinion if it possibly prevented me from having to remove my fairly new suspension and send it in for a fix due to a defect or manufacturer error. Not saying King is perfect (who am I kidding, I am saying that :stirthepot:), but their failure percentage definitely seems a lot lower on the forum.

IMG_0142.jpg Done on both side. Didn't take that long.

But while in doing my drive side I notice that my icon add a leaf, the bolt is to long and it's hitting my gas tank strap
    IMG_0141.jpg
So I remove the bolt shave it, and put washer on the other end so it won't sticks out.
