Since the last Leer Rcc was snatched up before I could get a day off. I have found another, but it is a loaded Leer XQ color matched for $1000. My only dilemma is now that spring is upon us I find my self carrying stuff that's longer or taller than what would fit in a bed with a cap on it. So my question is would a Bestop Supertop fit my needs better? Or should I look for a shell for the added security?

Depends on how you end up using the product.

I have a Softopper. Its a great product, works as expected and stores nicely, also very durable. It is not a product for me though. I either want a cap on when in use or off 100%. I do not collapse the topper, its either on or off. It also takes two people and as much time to put on as a fiberglass top. Its a PITA to say the least. But thats due to how I use it.

If you are like me, get the fiberglass with a lift for the roof of your garage to store it and help you take it off and on.

If you will almost always keep it on, then a Softtopper might work well for you. Go to the Softopper thread and look at pictures.

Thanks for the insight! I really like Softopper but not having the windows on the side makes me question reversing at night

Its really not that bad. Just be careful and use your camera. My window tint is more of an issue than the topper

Buy shell for weather protection and security, use utility trailer for carrying big stuff. Taco's have about 1200 lbs payload which ain't much and you ain't gonna put much in the small bed anyway. A trailer is easier to load anyway, closer to the ground and with a ramp. Plus you can tow 5000-6500 lbs in a trailer, much more than you can put in the bed.

If you need to haul a lot in the bed you need an 8' bed on a 3/4 ton truck.
