Happy to oblige, I even got 30mpg this morning traveling to my customer:

As I've been saying for a while now, I've found the mpg in this truck to be amazing, with this new TSB as well the transmission is now significantly nicer to use, it still wants to be in 6th gear at silly low speeds but I've gotten used to it.

    Hey all,

Just wanted to give an update. I had the TSB Rev1 performed about a month ago. I live in Canada and drive an average of 75KM per day commuting.
The changes have still held. I no longer get any kind of gear flare during cold startups (before the rev1 I had a gear flare on cold starts literally every morning) and the lurches I used to get occasionally have stopped. So far its still good!

This is Florida, we don't have hills lol...

Not sure what the bullshit picture is about, this is Florida, it's warm, it's flat and I was on I4 at good times so stuck to 73mph the entire way... you can see distance on the picture.

I'm sure someone with more knowledge that I can chime in but I'm assuming on a 2WD truck there is no transfer case so no energy lost there and no extra weight with front differential and drive shafts?

I remember reading your limited was 2WD, correct???

    That's great gas mileage! Congrads.

Indeed, I have no use for 4x4 (I still secretly yearn for it all the time)

Have any of you been having trouble with the dealer giving you a loaner vehicle while they work on your BRAND NEW truck? I got a free loaner Yaris when they did the TSB back in January. Now that I'm having to take it back they don't want to give me a loaner vehicle again. Just curious what you other guys are experiencing. Gulf States regional manager called the dealer and told them to give me a loaner especially since they did before. The dealer is refusing to ....They want me to pay $35 a day plus gas. I don't mind paying the gas...But I shouldn't have to pay for a rental. I NEVER had to pay for a loaner HONDA and didn't have to fill it back up.

After the TSB, I started getting a clunk at 12 mph when the truck down shifts from 3rd to 2nd gear. It gradually got worse. Does it about 80-90%of the time.

Fairly sure they all do that, more so when cold, I was under the impression it was the torque converter unlocking. Let us know what they say! I've always had a loaner, even for a service they've offered me a loaner (probably because it always takes 3 hours...)

Per the warranty your dealer is only required to provide a loaner if the vehicle will be kept overnight.

Mine started out doing it when it was cold. Gradually got worse....Even after it is warmed up.

I have had this same problem. I simply told them that I have another dealer.

They relented and gave me a corolla. Funny thing is that the corolla cost half as much and drove much better.

100+ pages here and about the same on the first TSB thread. Here are some thoughts:

    1) If you didn't notice a difference when you picked the truck up after the TSB I would wager they didn't do it. A $25 Autel scan tool will tell you if they did or not and you really should own one anyway so here's a good excuse.

    2) Rev up with no power: This is interesting and occasionally reported. Perhaps it has to do with the bad crank sensors. In any case this isn't something the TSB was supposed to address. If you have this problem something is seriously wrong with your truck. Most of us do not have this. Getting this fixed at the dealer you have been to 6 times is going to be difficult because they are tired of you and have written you off as a complainer. That stinks but it is still true. Hopefully someone will actually get a documented fix for this they can share.

    3) "It shifts more than my 4 speed", "It won't go 85 into a headwind in 6th", etc. Go read the EPA gas mileage test. It starts with a cold engine then accelerates to about 45 then back down to 30 then up to 55 then back down to a lower speed again. Cold engine, constantly varying speed with no sustained cruise. That is the HIGHWAY test. It has no real world practicality. Since CAFE is forcing the manufacturers to build to this test standard you can expect some strange behavior from ECM programming. Toyota has been running a 10 year design window for the Tacoma so they designed this truck to still be able to meet the standards in 10 years with just minor tweaking.

^^^ I bought that Autel tool to confirm I had the latest TSB , and I do. Do i think my truck is perfect no. Have I wanted to get rid of it ? Yes. Iv'e posted earlier in this thread , i wanted to get rid of it even. Lately I have been putting right into S mode with the Power button on and it's pretty darn peppy. I love everything about it and I have a 10/125,00 warranty so screw it. I'm just gonna drive it.

Same here. I find that the truck has adequate power and performance for my purposes using ECT and S mode. As a minimum, I'll use S4 around town, S5 on the highway, and/or punch the ECT button for crisper throttle response if needed, particularly in the lower gears.

Now that light trucks are in with the cars for EPA emissions certification, I guess they will never drive like earlier model trucks did. At least we still have options like ECT and S mode (enjoy them while they last - they may be the next to go :notsure:).
