    See my sig for mods

Yup, I use a combination of the D mode, S mode with the ECT on both modes, and I sort of like being able to select between more than several options for how the truck accelerates and shifts to get the performance I want from it within the capabilities of the engine and trans.

One thing I found out with 3.5L is that it likes to rev, and I run it up pretty good from time to time, and it likes it IMHO.

I've read here about a possible class action. A total waste of your time. Only the lawyers make money. They'll just pump paper over years to build up their fee. When they feel they've milked it for all they can get, They make a deal with the Corp. Something like, The lawyers get 5 million and all those who filed get a $1,000 coupon for a future purchase.

I have the dangerous downshift, high reving going nowhere when trying to pass. There are other legal options.

Link to the model you have? There are a few different ones out there in that price range.

Just had 6 month service yesterday, only 800 miles on truck. They installed TSB 0077-16, does not show Rev 1. Is Rev 1 the only one available now?

As far as I know , they are now calling it "the latest software" . I had mine done a few weeks ago and that is what the paperwork called it. I checked mine with a harbor freight OBDII tool 60694 and it showed 8966304B300 as the ECM version . This was also called rev-1 . I checked mine as I really do not know who to believe anymore, the dealer or Toyota corp.

Negative, the Toyota Field Service guy said they may have an engine/trans reprogram coming in the future but mentioned no timeline. The drive with him was two weeks before the most recent dealer appt.

At the dealership I was assured by the service manager that Toyota would stand behind their vehicles and warranty a repair if the issue was reported in the warranty period. I might add, this is the same dealership that had to check my transmission fluid level twice to get it right...maybe. First check they said 0.5-1qt low, second check two months later they added another 0.5qts.

On a side note, anyone's hood latch rusting badly? The hook part that's attached to the hood. Attempted to put on a bug deflector yesterday and noticed there's some serious rusting on it.

I had TSB done in December and it still drives like total shit. Constant down shifting to 4th when going up a grade on the highway. If the cruise is on it practically will not ever shift back up to 6th or even 5th.

As mentioned, you should invest the $25 in and OBD reader and make sure they actually did the update. The difference was immediate and very noticeable for most people. I like everything else about my truck but the highway behavior pre-TSB made me want to sell it because I am a cruise control junky. Now it drives great.

Funny you should mention the hood latch.Tried to pop my hood the other day to change out my grill, would not open, had to fiddle with it.The hook part is very rusty, what the heck? You would think after all the frame issues with the Tacomas and Tundras that Toyota would make it a point to use better quality parts.Apparently not.

So. A guy in my neighborhood bought a 2017 DC OFF-ROAD about the same time as I did in September. I came home today and saw a brand new SILVERADO in his driveway. Hmmmmmmmm. I wonder why? I have been seeing a lot of used 2016 & 2017 Tacomas piling up in our local used car lots. I predict this tranny issue is going to tank the realiability rating AND resale value on these trucks. Toyota needs to step it up a little quicker or it will cost them one way or another.

I saw like 8 or 10 a few months back parked on a lot behind a dealership where they park trades.

Anyone who thinks the drivetrain is "fine" isn't being honest.

It's really not that bad after TSB.
All the bitching on this site tanks the resale value. 191,631 2016 Tacomas sold, less than .01% on TW with "problems"
