Lots of not so good information on low-end acceleration on the Gen 3 Tacoma. How about acceleration for 30 mph to 70 mph?

If you baby it, it'll drive like a Grandma. If you give it gas, it will go.

Just need to pull higher RPMs to get it moving. Once it goes it, it definitely goes. Just don't redline it.

Once it hits 3500 rpm it pulls much harder than a 4.0. You can feel the VVTi kicking in. Much quicker than a 4.0 30-70. 0-30 not so much, tho ECT helps.

Redline is fine. This same engine spins to higher RPMs in other applications all day long. Put the pedal down and let the ECU handle the rest.

OP......there are countless threads and posts about how the drivetrain fails the user experience.

To be fair there are a few threads that say it's "adequate", but none I have found that say how much better the 3rd gen Tacoma drivetrain feels relative to previous years.

If Toyota comes out with a flash that makes this truck perform like the lowly Highlander, even the folks saying it's adequate will be lining up.

Wait until Ford comes to market with a 2.7L v6 in the Ranger.

Nobody will complain about on or off-road performance.

Now that right there is funny, I don't care who you are.:rofl:

Someone needs to take a test drive in something with some humphh. And Toyota hasn't had that since killing off the Supra.

what exactly are you looking for out of this post? Acceleration is just fine to me, and then 5 other people will say otherwise. We don't know what you are coming from, my other car is a Forester and this thing has a lot more passing power.

Pretty sure Toyota isn't going to put a truck out there that has trouble with freeway on ramps. :\

I never have a problem getting up to 80 on an on ramp. Its the slower traffic when I get to the end that is the problem.

Automatics are for those with 2 legs. It helps to grow that "third" :jerkoff: and drop the hammer. Mine feels like I'm going to twist the rear end off with all the torque it puts down.
    :burnrubber:

Just don't expect to be buying a GT anytime soon (unless you're one of the 500 lucky rich bastards who are original owners of a GT-40 and are the only ones eligible to get on the waiting list)
