Mine didn't actually fit in my wheels either. They fell right through. But, I got to looking at the Method caps, and decided to try something. I wish I would have taken more pictures, but I was in a friend's garage messing around with these things, and his lighting is horrible. Almost dungeon like.

I'll try to explain with pictures the best I can. So these are the stock caps that came with my wheels:

(Not my picture, I jacked it from Google. But it does a good job of showing how ugly they are.)

So, those caps are 2 piece. The base part of the center cap is metal, and the outside cone is bolted to it with 3 bolts (and 3 dummy bolt heads). This shows the separation point.

(Again, not my picture. Google jacked.)

    images_b0830cab5a1a44abc91d63f580d1af1ccdb7952a.jpg

So I took those two apart, and those TRD caps actually snapped right into the metal part of the cap. I had to move the metal ring to the outside and under the "fingers" of the TRD cap to keep it from rattling and pulling back out a little, but they're not coming out at all. I was about to go pull one to take pictures and show you, but I went outside and realized my floor jack is actually still up the street at my friend's house so we could use 2 jacks to install his sliders. And of course he's not home.

So this is the best picture I've got right now. Might help clear it up.

You can kind of see it. Maybe.

Of course yours might be, and probably are, totally different. I honestly don't remember what your center caps look like. I remember the wheels, but not the caps.

Cool rhanks for the write up. Mine are similar (2 piece) but the outer caps are just held on by plastic tabs. I pulled one off and stuck the new cap in there. They are tight enough to stay in place but they will rattle while driving. I may run a bead of silicone on the backside just to hold them in place. My other thought was to eliminate the stock center cap altogether and attach them flush in the rim but my centerbore is about 2mm over stock so I would have to come up with some kind of filler. I'll probably play around with it this weekend and come up with something.

Yeah, but they have to still come out to balance the tires. So you don't want to attach them with something permanent. I really wish I would have taken a picture of the backside of my caps so I could show you what I did with that metal ring that was on the inside of the tabs. It might solve your problem too. I basically stuffed the ring on the outside of the tabs and shoved it under the point on the fingers, and down in the space under them. I'm still going to take them out and put some dabs of epoxy on them to see if I can get them tighter and can snap a picture, but I probably couldn't do it until this weekend.

I got mine from a Toyota dealer. They were cheaper per unit but I paid a ton in shipping, they probably came out about even with FishSouth's

If I'm drinking my preferences are hard cider or captain and coke w/ lime.

To add to the earlier conversation on Flagpole. I went up the road by Switzer Lake at the meet late last year in my Prerunner. There was only one spot where I had an issue and had to try it 2-3 times to get past it. If I went again, I think I would try the Union Spring route. There was a lot of mixed info at the meet last year, and I didn't feel like possibly having to be pulled up most of the way. Also, there was another guy there with a stock 4x4 that didn't want to go up Union Spring.

Oh yeah, I definitely wouldn't do anything permanent. I just went outside and looked at them again and I think I will just attach them to the original centercaps. The clips hold them in tight enough to stay but there is about a mm of play so they rattle. I might try to find 1/8" dense rubberized foam and cut out some gaskets that I can attach to the back of the TRD caps with contact cement and I think that will do. here are some before/after pics. I can't wait to get these mounted.

Definitely looks good man. I really like that.

It's not a bad "long" day trip. We can make it happen.

Those look so much better than the method caps!
Black silicone will work fine to keep them rattle free. Upgrade from that is 3m 5200 from hd or Lowe's

Yep. Let's do a GWNF trip this summer

Looks like some skidplate goodies. Who'd you find to make skids for the 2.7? Or are they v6 skids that you're making fit?

V6 skids and going to have to do a little modifying to the mid skid. The IFS bolts up though and I think the T-case skid will as well

I might know a thing or two about those things. Mine's an '06 750 that is about to get torn into for some 11.5:1 pistons and .338 custom ground cams (I think... they've been sitting in my toolbox for 2 years now) and titanium valve springs. Should be a right fun little ride when I get done with it.

Agreed. I'll probably be going up again soon to scout some of the offshoots that I've seen up there the couple of times I've gone. I'm assuming they shouldn't be too crazy, but I've been wrong before.
