Cool. Give it a go! Usually the how to's that people post are super useful. I'm not handy/mechanically inclined myself, but I've done a few things myself that I never thought I'd be able to by following the how to's.

 

Yeah I've been reading some posts on it and educating myself. We'll see, have so many open projects right now.

 

I hear ya. You mod one thing, and you catch the "bug" and want to keep modding other stuff. Been there, done that, and still there.

Yeah this weekend I plan on painting console and climate control plate black. Just researching the sheen and paint. Thinking satin black with krylon fusion.

@sxdirt - I did a HomerTaco mesh grill insert on my '13. Not exactly the same as what you're looking at but similar. You should be able to pick up a used grill pretty cheap here and use that to cut up.

 

That looks good. I priced a grill for like $40.00 shipped from partsgeek. The grill/ mesh and letters is the expensive part.

 

@jc11taco89 - I'm finally beginning to begin working on my rock sliders soon - cleaning them up and primering. Thinking about using POR-15 and bed liner or some sort of other finish ontop. How much did you buy? How much do you think it would take to cover sliders?

 

Hahaha today's tour lucky day bud I bought a whole gallon and I definitely have a LOT more than I'm gonna need for all my armor so you can for sure use some. As for the bed liner I bought a pretty sweet kit that came with a gun so if you decide to go that route all youll need is 2 bottles of the bed liner and we can shoot it in my garage

Woohoo! What have you been putting it on with? Paint brush/roller? and how many coats. How much of the POR-15 have you used so far for your armor? I'll compensate you fairly for whatever you have left over. Can't wait to see how your armor looks in person - pictures look awesome. I need to get these sliders out of the shed and installed the truck soon. This nicer weather has me itching!

 

I've used Herculiner. One part black bed liner product. It's cheap and easy to apply. I put three coats of that on my hitch assembly with a small roller and chip brush. (Dropped it out and had to grind clean and repaint after year 3) it's held up very well since then. Also painted my front stock skid plate which held up good except for a spot where I grounded into a rock or something.

As for the grill mods, I have bought and sold a few grilles to date on here. Shipping is about 30$ lots of people end up with used ones from time to time. I stripped the color surround off of a busted grille and installed onto a used one. Looked good as new.

 

POR-15 is so thin that it goes a L-O-N-G way. A quart would cover sliders for just about the entire CT crew... If you want it to last, don't open the can. Really! Instead poke a small hole in the top side and pour out what you need into a container and then seal the hole with a sheet metal screw.

 

No shit, good advice! I've never applied it so wasn't sure how thick it goes on, coverage, etc. from what I've read most people put on two coats.
