Sometimes a small 3 am wake up isn't too bad... but only a minor one.

I hate to say it, but you guys gotta stop talking about work.

I get it, we all are on the night shift, but I have never compared my self worth to the job I do.

I get much more satisfaction talking and referring to what I do outside of work. Work is important, but it ain't the most important thing.

I consider myself a skilled amateur fabricator first and a licensed and trained boiler operator second.

These post about what we do to get thru the night just aren't cutting it for me.I like pictures. One picture can spark 20 post responses. Thats the shit that makes the night shift smoke on by.

    My current project.

Valid points... But that's the thing, sometimes we go with the flow of the conversation. I don't think you'll get any disagreement on Life > Work. Well, hopefully not :anonymous:

But, the boat look amazing. Learning to do metal work and welding is on my list of to-dos that I want to learn. Mostly I do wood projects as the needs arise.

MIG, Miller 30A spool gun. I started it Thanksgiving morning. I've been slowly working on it since. Its been a real fun project.

I've been welding and fabricating for the last 25 years, always with the intention of making money. I decided last fall that I wanted to build something that was for my satisfaction.

I agree. I know I'm guilty of letting work take control of me, which is why I'm in the process of making a change.

On the topic aside from work, that's a badass boat. I'm counting down the weeks until I get my black lab male puppy so I can start training him for ducks.

Thanks. Wife found a pic and said "do this" This was when we first moved in and I didn't have all the tools I do now so there is a lot I would do differently/better on the next go around.

Sometimes we need a stick in the eye to get us moving again haha.:boink:

I weld at work but not much aluminum. we have a spool miller spool gun as well. I can't remember the last time I worked with aluminum. I'll have to get some scraps and work with it.

^^^^ This. Someday for me... our chocolate lab and lab mix are either too spastic or lazy at this point in time for that

Its funny. I've owned that spool gun for 15+ years. I never had any projects that need aluminum work. I just decided that I better use the rig or sell it.

This is how the boat sits now. I hope to get a few hours to work on it tomorrow night.

What's the end goal here? trolling motor fishing setup? Looks like a fun project though. and will yield a lot of satisfaction.

Night 4 of 5, this weekend I will be crafting a cover for my brick hearth for the baby. We put a retail bought rubber cushion on the edges but he rips if off in seconds. Debating using plywood with foam/polyfill and upholster it or just building it out of sheet foam and cover with fabric....essentially a 3 sided rectangular box. I typically do custom sized radiator covers, bathroom vanities and built ins.
