Oh and the Bluetooth is probably sufficient, but compared to the factory unit it's weak.

I'm looking at the jvc units in the same price now. Also look good

One thing I did not know but apparently JVC and Kenwood are one company. When my Kenwood boots up it has the Kenwood logo and below that says JVCKenwood corporation.

I think all the hu's will do the same thing as far as the Bluetooth goes unless you step up to the higher end navi type units.

When you have your music on and someone calls you or you make a call doesn't your music switch off?

The phone part does, just not for the gps, just lowers in volume but the gps doesn't play loud enough.

I was mad this morning driving to work the Bluetooth wouldn't connect, just kept saying connecting. Turned the hu off twice didn't work. Tried resetting the Bluetooth on the phone still nothing.

When I installed my Pioneer, I had a relay in the harness so I could watch videos without needing to play with the e-brake or a switch.

On my Kenwood all I had to do was ground the brake wire with the ground from the hu and harness. Couldn't get it to play wired with the brake like its supposed to be. I didn't care about watching while driving because I'll never do that but did it for simplicity, plus once I get a monitor mounted for the back seat for my son it will keep it easier to control for him.

Btw my Bluetooth problem this morning apparently didn't have to do with the hu, when I left work today it still didn't connect only to realize the phone was messed up. Had to turn It off the back on and was fine.

My old JVC was like that (I believe they own or merged with Kenwood). Pioneer wanted to make it more difficult.

I have a different Kenwood HU but this may work for yours. Adjust the volume while the gps is talking to you and it will remain at that level until you change it again.

I tried that but the music just goes up with it. Maybe if I try it without the music streaming at the time?

Anyone had success uploading a custom wallpaper or start up screen on Kenwoods? I've tried it with every spec down to a T but will not read my flash drive. Has to be 2.0 jpeg 800x480 and a fat32 format on the flash drive.

Of course the down side I'm scared it will bog down the hu since it already seems a bit glitchy.

Very nice! You did some great work. I got some high-end plans for my 2017 Tacoma as well. I won't be able to start it for another month or two but I will be doing it all myself.

LED tall lights, locking gas cap, light paint work, detailing, and I just started a custom stereo install.
My custom build so far. I still have another amp to mount under my seat, and some doors to deaden. IMG_20170428_112553.jpg

    Yes.
I loved that car. I switched to a Tacoma only because my travels were limited by the Prius.
    It is a great car.
