Every time he has a "transaction" go stand on the sidewalk or out front and video it on your phone or whatver. If its all legal and legit he shouldn't care, right? And its legal for you to do that...and if it truly is suspicious eventually maybe you can show the police or HOA or whoever what you are talking about.

In a townhouse community you have to be civil to people and have at least a modicum of tolerance and socially acceptable behavior. If your dog poops in a neighbors yard...pick it up. If you forget your leash...go get your leash. If you yourself needs to go to the bathroom, do it in your house not a neighbors yard (yes I've seen this happen).

One long term resident on our block taught me a good lesson. This woman is probably crazy, she's mean, rude and rather vulgar to everyone if they happen to be walking their dogs and she's outside. She also loves to say racist stuff to white folks as well...as if she has tourettes syndrome. She lives by herself and seems to not have any family. HOWEVER one time a neighbor had an emergency situation and this lady sprung into action and saved the ladies life. Lesson is never wright anyone off. If she ever needed anything I'd help, regardless of what she might have said to me in the past.

I agree 100%. Live and let live. The last thing I ever want to do is get the police involved. With all they have to put up with dealing with the general public. It's one of the reasons I started this thread. I wanted to make sure I was being reasonable.

Also, I've sold stuff on Close5 and OfferUp and they go to great lengths to tell people not to give out their personal info, like home addresses. In my opinion no one in their right mind would give their own address out to someone they've never met. This used to be called common sense, but that seems to not be common anymore. And then this "new guy" shows up on the block seems to be doing just that. Except people are in front of my house waiting on him, or he's loitering around outside my house waiting on buyers to show up.

I don't ever win any rewards for best looking yard or anything like that...but I'm not the worst on the block. That belongs to my neighbor that lives next door. He keeps to himself and never bothers anyone, except my wife. He does keep asking if she has any sisters, and I keep telling him the same thing...No! :D

I've sold stuff on CL and sometimes I had the person come to my house. I made sure my wife was home, inside the house, I locked the doors and had her keep one eye and ear open. Mainly because the items weren't easy to transport, such as a metal bender.

I've gone over to friends houses in the past to be an "extra person" when someone wants to sell furniture to strangers online. I always tell them "you're crazy...I'll be there in 10 minutes". I end up convincing them to move all the stuff either into the garage or on the driveway so there is minimal intrusion.

Also, if you ever deliver furniture or whatever to someones house just put it on their driveway or garage...avoid going into the house. There can be liability issues if something gets scratched, broken or whatever else that can go wrong. Also it can cut out any scammer non-sense that scammer/con artists dream up all the time. Also it avoids the Silence of the Lambs scenario where you find yourself in a pit in a basement having to put "lotion in the basket".

is the same actor...believe it or not. Ted Levine played Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs and Leland Stottelmyer on Monk.

I remember when Monk came on for the first time and I heard Ted Levine's voice and I was like "that's friggin Buffalo Bill." My wife called BS so then I had to prove it by pulling put my coveted Silence of the Lambs DVD. She still can't believe I was right about that. It's the only argument I've ever won in 22 years! This was before google BTW. Internet was dial up and there was Webcrawler.

BTW my use of the term "beater" referred to the state of this guys car parked on the side of my house. I probably would be more correct calling it a clunker. It's been T-boned and has been sitting on the side of my house for the past two weeks without moving. He has tried to start it a few times but no go. I didn't want to give the impression that I was referring to a shirt, but rather his car.

Since the car won't start and hasn't moved, it'll be there for awhile. I would take a picture of it and post it to demonstrate how terrifyingly non-road worthy it appears to be, but I feel that crosses a line. The fact that it won't start means it's not on the road, thereby not posing a public safety problem.

When my wife came home today she did see him get into an Uber car. She said that when he noticed her he tried to duck down and get into the Uber car quickley...like he didn't want to be seen by her. My wife is a good judge of this kind of thing.

Maybe he'll go away and leave a memento behind for the neighborhood.

Do you know the guys name, or do any of your neighbors? Reason I ask is some states have a free court look up, and you'd be amazed at what shows up. You can find out if he's been busted before and if he's on probation. I've had similar problems with the scumbag that lives behind me. A couple of minutes searching once I found his name lead to a treasure trove of info. Turned out he used to (and probably still does) like to smoke some crack and likes to hit women. Needless to say the police have been there multiple times since he's moved in.

Lol, so you dug through the guys trash to find his name then decided to further violate his privacy and look him up, then call the cops on the guy for nit picky reasons... Nice. (unless you found his name in a legit way very doubtful). Yall some people do change, jesus christ, cops aren't even this weary of criminals.

No, haven't called the cops on him, don't really ever intend to unless I have to. Decided to find out who he was after he left in handcuffs and his gf left on a stretcher. Funny how the police have a blotter with all the information on arrests each week, so I didn't have to do any "digging". And as far as people changing, they do but when you do something like that I'm going to be a little weary.

I feel your pain OP. Swore I'd never have neighbors again, ever. My suggestion - move to the country, build a fence and put a no trespassing sign out front. It's what I did 21 years ago. Now I only have to deal with 1) hogs tearing up my property (for now) 2) Commute time sucks 3) but I have ZERO neighbors...

And FYI - I only skimmed through responses but I did see a suggestion about calling the cops. Do it now not later... Good luck!
