    These are drift boats.

To get the true effect, they are to be oar powered only, but I built this one so I can perch a 5-10 hp out board if I want.

They are primarily used for trout fishing on some of the rougher western streams. In my state, there are no serious rapid rivers. I just like the looks of them. So I built one.

Very nice. Going for any built in type stuff, like a live well or beer cooler ?

Still in the planning stage. There will be a rowers bench. I have to decide what I want to do for the front and rear seating.

I have an idea for the front seating. I'm leaning towards just strapping down one of the high end coolers, then attaching a boat seat to the cooler top. I really want an Orion 45 cooler, but most likely will just grab a Walmart Ozark Trail of similar size.

Look up the price of the Orin coolers if you really want some sticker shock. If you think the Yeti cooler owners have more money than brains, you will really wonder how much money these Orion owners have.

Wow... It better row for you  The seat on cooler idea is nice. Had a friend make one like that for his dove hunting seat. Just a Walmart cooler though. I just got a RTIC 20 from a guy at work. Good little size and works good. I also got an Orca 140 a few years ago for $300 shipped. Lucky ebay find. Needed something for hauling meat back from my trips north hunting.

RTIC coolers all the way. :D Picked up the soft sided 20qt for $60 when they were having the "get rid of inventory" sale. Quality is impressive

Yep, I got the soft 40 and two 45s at the same time, ordered on a Tuesday and delivered on Wednesday. The big coolers are as expected but the soft cooler is above and beyond.

I don't know if I could look at myself in the mirror after buying one of these coolers. I'd be ashamed that I spent that kind of money.

It would suck to spend all that money on a cooler, but have no $ left over to buy beer.

I think its gonna take a very hard sell for me drop that kind of coin.

I feel the same way but the Rtic 45 is $175. Not cheap but not that bad for a high end cooler either. Hell you could even get the 65 for $200. My favorite though is the soft 40, sells for $150 and holds 40 cans plus ice, easy to carry and tough as shit.

The orin one, yeah probably :anonymous: Personally, I bought the 140 qt for multi day travel with fresh meat in it and it was completely worth it. I was sold after I finally bought one. I also have one of these that I used last year in conjunction with the Orca 140. I pre-treated them (left open overnight in a blizzard to pre-chill them) and filled them with frozen vac-packed meat and topped with bags of ice from the gas station. After 5 days the Orca was unchanged. No ice melted. The coleman only lost about 10% of it's ice. Not bad. But that's not opening at all for the full five days. And the temps were 40-70* over that span and trip.

I must have looked at the wrong prices. I was seeing $300+ for the 45's. I'm game for anything that is less than $200.

RTIC may be worth a shot for you then. Can't say much on them post Yeti settlement, but shouldn't be much changing.

Apparently they're barely different at all. Adding a second drain plug I think. A nice little FU to yeti.

No shit right? Only complaint I have with the Rtic is that one of th 45s I got had bad warp in the front plastic. I was going to send it back and they even sent me a ups label but there were no more available. I decided to keep mine and screw my rod holder through it

Haven't looked at the changes yet. If that's all then

Me too. But I can't blame Yeti at all. If they can sell their stuff for as much as they do and build the brand the way they have with so many cheaper options... Good for them. But I'll stick with my "knock offs"

HF Roto molded cooler... Probably would have to test run one of those myself haha. Probably would come with three free tools too :bananadance:

That's exactly the kind of thing I want to do. I won't have a big issue drilling and bolting shit to $150 cooler, but a $350 cooler might make me hesitate to "damage" it on purpose. I dunno.
