Not really. 54" wide verses 56" (summit) you won't even notice it and trimming MF would be a pain without the right tools.

The queen is still short after trimming the width as well. You or rather I don't miss the 21" the full is short of the 96"

And MF is heavy (but so worth the comfort), so why have more than you need?

Same shape I got it in! Didn't have to drill since the 4runner and tacoma were so tall.

Cool! I'll let you know and I'll order a ladder from the group buy then. @ramonortiz55 can you add that to what I'm interested in on the GB?

I used my tent for the first time last weekend in Death Valley for three nights. Overall it was very nice and comfortable. It was very windy two nights though and the tent with the rain fly on is pretty loud so I didn't get much sleep. How rain resistant are these things without the fly on? Can they take a quick rain shower? I think next time I am going to just remove the fly unless there is rain in the forecast. I also read somewhere to use clamps to keep the fly from flapping when I have it tied down.

It's loud even without the fly. Best bet is ear plugs. I keep a pack in the tent now and sleep like a baby

Had some rain and wind last Friday night at the Eureka Sand Dunes, I didn't have the rain fly up and all I did was close all the flaps shut. Nothing got soaked and didn't detect any water intrusion inside the tent. I was more concerned about the wind than the rain. Funny enough this was my second night in my tent

Yeah we were camping Friday near Furnace Creek up Echo Canyon Rd and it rained a little on us but was mostly just windy.

What kind of RTT do you have? I have a Tepui and haven't tried taking the rain fly off yet. Curious to know where you're supposed to store that when it's taken off. Just in the bed of the truck or something? I wish it had a way to hang or something when not using.

All I know is, I've been out of the Navy for the better part of 6 years now, and I can still sleep through mostly anything. Ya'll are complaining about rain splashing sounds on the top of a tent lol, try sleeping at very back of an aircraft carrier at sea level doing a full bell. Feels like your in the middle of a earthquake with a tornado around you. You learn to sleep through it, reeeaaalll quick.

It's easy when you can snuggle up and spoon the other guy in your bunk.

    Zing woah! Look out!

    Are the RTT's that loud?
How do they compare to like a decent backpacking tent with rain fly?

My opinion...it's not that they're that much louder but that they're more susceptible to the elements because they're up high and off the ground.

Mine is no louder than any ground tent I've been in.
