Anybody else have problems with the qi wireless charger not charging through cell phone case. I don't have a really bully case or anything and my wireless charger at home works just fine with case on. Any fixes to this or do I just have to live with it?

I have had the same problem for quite some time, I would love to know a workaround as well. I literally spent about two hours at Verizon, Best Buy, and a local phone store...I went to Verizon last, explained to the guy my situation...so, they at least were nice enough to not make me pay for cases, try them out in the parking lot, then return them. He and I went out there together and tried several until we found the best one for my particular phone. The TUMI case was the best for my phone(galaxy note 5).

However, I still have issues hitting a bump, a turn, anything...it will pop on and off all the time, so, I quit using it. If they would install three coils instead of two, there would be no issue. I did a little research and I'm thinking that was the difference between the wireless charging systems gen 1 and gen 2. One simple coil for cases...now it is standard.

I would love to know if anyone has found a workaround for this as well. Would love to actually use it.

I have a Driod Turbo with an Incipio case that worked perfectly in 2 '16 Chevy full size trucks. In my Taco, my phone has to be in the right place and with the case on it will get warmer than usual. It will not get a full charge.

same issue here. i have the nexus 6 with a supcase. it will show as its charging, then 20-30 seconds later, shows not charging in an endless loop. my phone has a curved back so it doesn't sit flat and i think that plays a part cause it moves around a lot. but once i take off the case, it charges fine. not a big deal for me since i'm looking for a new phone anyways.

Yeah I honestly still have the same problem with the case off...because they are plastic it slides around corners...it's like it has to be perfectly center for it to charge.

I'm sure you have heard the new S8's are coming out...I have to wait for an upgrade, but they are looking pretty nice! :taco:

I have noting to actually contribute to this thread, but I would like to point out that I have jumped on the hype train for this phone. So ready to upgrade my S6

yeah, i was never really into samsung, but you can't deny the how great their phones are. i like big phablets, so that s8+ is worth a look. i'm partial to the google phones which are simple and no bloatware. hopefully google gets it right with the next pixel.

I just keep it old fashion plug it in with the cable. The wireless charging never really made life easier, my phone has to be on the pad perfect and then takes a few to start charging Have no case on it. I did see a new Samsung fast charge pad in the store and it was way better than the first ones that came out, but that tech is not in the taco. The taco one takes a long time to charge so unless you go on a long drive you do not get much charge. I like the quick charge plug it charges fast.

It's more a Qi limitation than anything, I actually had better experience w/ the one in the Taco than the bases I have at home. Stopped using it in the house because if it isn't sitting just right it goes on/off and if the battery is below 10% on my phone it won't take a charge (no clue why). It's all about placement and cases are going to impact that. I changed phones and now don't have Qi anymore anyway :\

Works great with my body glove case on my Galaxy S6. I do have to place it in the sweet spot with for me is shifted to the left as far as possible. Its a really grippy case so it doesn't slide around on the charger.

Ha, why yes it does! Keeps the phone visible and at least for me I always seemed to forget it when it was in the cubby.

FYI, with my iphone7 in a Qi case I get around 14-15% battery gain per half hour whether in the cubby or on the Qi charger mount. That quite enough for my needs. I look to it more for maintaining charge than to restore a dead phone.

Indeed, this is very important. The coil is typically under two inches diameter and the further it's misaligned with the receiver patch the less efficient the charging.

Qi chargers generally need to be within a very close proximity. A case will usually hinder this ability because of thickness.

I bought a Qi charging adapter for my Sony Xperia Z2 and could not get it to charge my phone in the truck, and I'm not even using a case.

The Qi charger is weak. It doesnt matter if I have the case on or off. This wireless charging feature in these trucks is more of a "maintainer" than a charger. Of course the Note 5 has a larger sized battery. If you have a smaller smart phone that allows wireless charging it might work better.

hate the qi charger in our tacos. Takes too damn long. I just plug in my phone and put it on top of the qi charger location and charge it the old fashion way.

I've never used the one in the Tacoma because I have an Iphone but I've used it for other devices and they charge fine. Must be one of the things they decided not to spend the extra few bucks to engineer any better. From what it sounds like, your right, it's probably only good for keeping your phone from losing battery if it's just sitting idle.

I think the wireless charging "coils" are just weak. Probably worried about the things overheating and catching something on fire a la the Galaxy Note 7.
