Nice! About to sell my set as I mounted my F5's. Just didn't want to deal with spacers anymore.

What's your guys opinion? I have my 99 that I've been rebuilding/building up and as of now I will have a lift, tires, rear bumper and front skid all set up. Possibly manual hubs and ucas. I still need to replace the back hatch (not necessary but would like to) and the driver fender. The thing is set up for wheeling and I really don't "have" to do much more.

On the other hand I keep looking at 1st gen 4runner's constantly as I'd love to build one up and they would be so much fun to drive around.

Would it be crazy to wrap up the 99 (buy hatch and fender) and sell it to fund a 1st gen that I would essentially starting over with? Wheeling season is right around the corner and I'm worried if I buy a 1st gen I won't have it ready to wheel with my limited schedule/budget. Thinking of keeping the 99 through summer, wheel it and fix some more stuff up on it, then selling/trading for a 1st gen this fall/winter. Hmmmm

I would keep and then sell after wheeling season.

Didn't you have a first gen in high school? Wrap up the 3rd gen, sell it, and get what you really want. There's no reason not to

Don't like spacers but I have a set in the garage. I'll mount them copper now and see how I like them. It's more of an experiment than anything.

If you're pretty set on selling it, I'd sell it now. Who knows what could happen during your wheeling season to delay you from getting a 1st gen.

i have my rear passenger door seal, all 4 door window felts and the back window trim and felt. Also have to do rear brakes, oil change, inner and outer tie rods, new springs for the coilovers, new uniball posts for the UCAs and then i need to gusset the towers, alignment cams and install my fuse block. I also need to install my amp and rewire it to remove completely the JBL set up.

my driver side is already cranked to hell to account for the weight but needs more because im rubbing on my cab now. I will probably do the alignment cams, TREs and uniball posts all at the same time as the springs so i can do it all in one alignment.

    You guys have any input?

I bought my Runner in February and the ECU had been reset, which I didn't realize until a few weeks ago. When I drove it home my mileage range was something like 426 miles or so.. after my first fill up it went to like 330. It's about the same now, a month and a half later.

I am only seeing 15.5 MPG. So far as I can tell, this is 3-5 MPG less than what others are getting with the same setup, same wheel and tire size - P265/70/17 highway tires.

I drove it like a grandma for the first month. Have Eco mode on so I can regulate my throttle position for best economy.

    Shit luck? Normal?

38k miles when I bought it and CarFax showed dealer servicing up to 25k miles. Purchased from a dealer and they did an oil change. Currently has 39,650 miles.

I use Chevron 87 exclusively, so not a low quality gas issue.

Occasionally I'll park and smell a hot rubber type of smell (best guess), don't believe I'm having an issue with brake drag or anything like that, but haven't tested.

probably right for the tires. the 15.5 is hand calculated right? with the adjustment for increased tire size?

Doesn't feel slow at all, just seems like my mileage is pretty low for a stock rig.

I was told to run a couple tanks of 91 and then drive it like I stole it and that might help with the MPG.

Can't say that makes a ton of sense to me, but maybe I'll give it a run next tank and see what happens.

    I'll try that.

Anyone have a link handy to a service interval PDF or something like that? For 5th gen.

even in my V8, it LOVES Premium fuel, even loves Shell VPower91 more than Chevron 91. I get 2MPG avg more with it as well.

yeah i just hit premium where i can. I attempt to get Chevron/Valero but Shell is a good backup, its crazy the difference with VPower but i also know the owner of the local Shell and he takes amazing care of his filters and shit in his tanks. Could be why.

Will try it out next tank, thanks dewdz.

Should I wait to reset the ECU until I get the higher octane?

Try accelerating faster. I know it sounds counterintuitive, but taking a long time to get up to optimal speed is worse for mpg than getting there quickly. Obviously don't floor it every freaking time, but try being a bit more haste when accelerating, as long as you know you can maintain that speed for bit i.e. Don't drive city streets constantly mashing the gas and brake.

EDIT: At least this is what I've read before, and seems to work for me.
