Yeah, because coaches having contract left totally effects whether big market teams will fire them. If "Deano" wants to keep his job he might burn Sutter. It's not a bad play on his part because it doesn't hurt him at all. If he doesn't think there is a better option though that's a whole separate story.

..at any rate, LA doesn't have a track record of doing changes like that in the off-season. It doesn't make for a good shake/wake the team up so to speak.

btw .. what happened to Sutters assistants when he left SJ ?

Good read ... luv the comments http://www.jewelsfromthecrown.com/2011/12/13/2633723/darryl-sutter-genius

... that shark fan is right about DS being very stubborn though-lol

Not really anything to say. No Geno, Letang. Missing 8 total starters. I think it is pretty amazing that they were able to hang around atop the Metro with this many injuries. Luckily we got Sheary and Rust back but still a ton of people out. No real point trying to kill yourself when we are likely going to end up in the 2-3 match-up against Columbus, no matter what. Just get healthy and do work when it counts. Props to Chicago as well. They were solid. The make some awesome passes, in transition. Very fun to watch. And I'm not a huge Crawford fan but he was good tonight. Not tested too bad but he did what he had to do. When he is on, he can be very good.

I honestly would've rather watched the Calgary/LA game. Seemed like a good one. Tkachuk gets props for being the aggressor in that scenario. Kid has balls, gotta give him that.

They did. They looked good. They seem to have the Pens number, in general. But if the Hawks play how they should, Pens need their whole roster and to be on the A-game to have a chance. Pens had neither last night. It would make for a nice Finals, if it would ever come down to it though.

Ya that was pretty awesome. Their transition is something else. And I know a lot of Patty Kane haters in this section, but he is incredible to watch. Even when it's against my team, I love watching him and Panarin, when they are feeling it. Good stuff, for sure.

Everyone gets blown out now and then. The Leafs have had 3 real shit kickings handed to them by non playoff teams yet have no problem going toe to toe with Washington and Pittsburgh in the games they've played. They still have one left against each of those teams though, it'll be interesting to see how that pans out.

Not making excuses, but I don't think the Pens even care what happens for the rest of the regular season. Just as long as Geno, Letang, Daley, Maataa, Hagelin, Geuntzel are back and no one else gets injured. That is they key right now. We really gain nothing by going out there to press for a win, compared to making sure the roster is healthy. That is what is always weird about this time of year. You have teams in different modes. Colorado is totally checked out. You have the bubble teams battling hard and other teams that are clinched that are sometimes playing conservative, looking at the big picture. If the Pens were healthy, I think they'd press to win the division but at this point, that likely isn't going to happen.

But ya, anyone can get beat. The Leafs can bring it, for sure. It is cool to see them play the top teams, when they are on their game. I'm glad they moved out of the wild card and bounced Boston back.

Anyone think they should crack down on stick work? I think so. I mean everything from nut tapping to the friendly little reminders on the hands that aren't so friendly. They should just have a rule like Lacrosse where certain areas are fine to tap and others aren't. IE if a referee sees you tapping the hands or nuts it's an automatic call no matter whether it fits slashing or not. There's too much grey area right now between a two handed slash and how slashing is written in the rule book.

de-badged, tint front windows, led interior lights, door sill protectors, led b/up lights, 5" factory step rails, yellow turn signal bulbs, added 4 D ring tie downs. Took off the black vinyl stripes between the doors. Changed the grill - from Custom Car Grills, Finally got a tonneau cover put on. 31" light bar ( white & amber ), tailgate light bar, sunvisor covers ( to hide warning labels ), new bedside decals - still too cold to put them on tho. Flag decals to go on too, again too cold still. Got a 2 switch, switch plate to replace that useless cubby hole to the left of the steering wheel.. still to be installed ( hopefully this weekend ). Upgraded the tires to G/Y Duratracs... loving them, no plowing the driveway !!
    Agreed.

Ya. The one on Gaudreau last night was a good example. I think the part that makes it hard, is that at any level you are coached to get stick on stick or stick on puck, pretty much no matter what. And I assume at the pro level the players with the puck are ready for it. So a simple stick-lift or stick check isn't going to cut it. So if you come in heavy, you break their stick in the middle (or lower) and you get the penalty. So you come in closer to the hands to avoid that. Not defending the bad ones, but I think it has snowballed because of the reason I just gave.

Still was a penalty. If anything they should change the rules so that a stick to the hand is a penalty. Period. No slash required.

Agree though on way too much stick work this year. ... the Methot one though was apparently no big deal.
