I don't drive that slow.. I just try to keep the Eco light on.

After 3 weeks I stopped doing the "new car creep," still getting the same mileage, might have had 16.5 back then.

I'm assuming you've checked your tires pressure?

Haven't. They're P metric highway tires (Dueler HT 684s) and they have no sidewall fatigue, so if anything they're slightly over inflated. Definitely not under inflated.

Might be worth checking, just so you can cover all your bases. You're in nor cal, right? If it gets cold there during the winter, that may have affected the tires some. If not, it's still worth checking when you get the chance.

I'm getting new tires installed tomorrow so I'll be doing a chalk test this weekend.

I'm in SF Bay area, so not cold, really.. lowest we see is high teens, I think the overnight lows since I've had the Runner are in the 30s.

@MTgirl lives in Montana snow country and gets 18 on winter gas, our Runner's are identical twins. She lives at higher altitude, too.. so :notsure:

''Tis a mystery then! Hopefully it gets resolved with the fixes you're going to try.

    Word.

I wanted 285s.. went with 255s instead because I don't want to get 13 MPG with a stock 4Runner. If I was getting high teens, then fuck yeah 285s.. I can live with 16 MPG. I don't want less than that, especially stock, and I'm only seeing 15.5.

Going to check the air filter this weekend, also, and check the easy stuff.

With 39k miles, I'm still assuming it's too young to have something major wrong with it.

PO did less than 10k miles a year, so it's not been ridden hard or sitting parked.

    What load were those?

I've never ran a tall skinny, so trying a 255/70/17. Figure if I like it, I'll get a bigger one next set and if I don't like it then I'll go 285s next set. Pretty sure they're going to up my mileage, they're 5 lbs lighter than my current tires, even.

    Son of a bitch.

I wanted to try them, didn't know they had that size in a P.

I went with P255/70/17 Cooper ATPs which I had on my truck and loved.

Have you ever thought of 10.5x34"? I considered that size for awhile. Same width as a 265.

Local dude runs that size on his Tacoma and loves it.

When I'm lifted I may try one on.

That's the size I wish I would've gotten instead of 285s, back when I still had my truck. Ohhhhh well.

Problem is the only tire in that size is KO2's, unless some others have come out.

I still love my 285/75/17's. 34" tire without going too wide. Would have gone 255, but got a great deal on these and with the Tundra I felt the 255 might be a little too skinny looking for a DD.
