Yeah I missed that thread somehow... I thought 33s were going to be a stretch. I do too much highway travel in the summer, those big tires would give me a headache after a few hours me thinks.

Might be a future mod for me when I get a new truck. I'll add 35s and hand it down to my wife! Something about a girl driving a bad ass pickup does something for me.. .I dunnno.... really it does.

He would not be the first the second the third or the fourth, they're probably 20 3rd gens with 6 inch lift on them just in Hawaii. They all run 35's with 20x12s. If you wanted to save some money but still go with the better 6 inch lift, go with the basic BDS lift, add Bilstein 5100s, OME springs, and Add a leaves in the rear with maybe a smaller block, with extended rear Bilstein 5100 shocks. This is if your truck is a 4x4. If a 4x2 look into Maxtrac 6" lift, much easier and cheaper.

There are tons of factors in play here, but usually for the absolute best performance you want the suspension pivot point to be to be flat inline with the center of the wheel when the vehicle is at it's normal ride height. If you look at lifts on solid front axle's with coil springs, you'll see the exact same thing only from the side of the truck.
Lifts should be used for gaining suspension travel, not ground clearance. If you are using it for ground clearance, then you end up with a shitty ride.

No, the same, the lowest point is the rear axle housing.
In Rough Country lifts the bracket height is not so tall, looks better to me:

Same thread different day. I have a 6" BDS lift on 35s. Ready carefully, BDS has worse ground clearance than Fabtech which is another top quality DB lift. I have asked this same thing for my 2015 and listen to the boys here. Buy a 3" lift on 33s. It will look deadly. Or if you want the truck mainly for looks I will always think the 6" lifts look bad ass. I'm currently in a he process of welding all my shit back together for my long travel kit. For practicality, and the ability to change your mind in the future, get a 3" lift.

Wouldn't the truck with the 6 inch lift and 35 inch tires always have more ground clearance then any truck with 33 inch tires because the rear axle housing is the limiting factor so the bigger tire always wins. How can there be any argument

I had a Fabtech lift on my F-150, and I agree it was a good lift.

    That is correct.

There is a thread that shows that DB lifts have more clearance that mid travel with skids. I was reading it the other day, can't find it now.

RC lift only drops the LCA's 3.5" and then droops the rest to get either 4" or 6" of lift. I think I managed to get pretty good ground clearance out of my setup with only about 4" of overall lift. Granted I had to do a lot of cutting and fabbing to beef it all up.

Yes that is a tall Hardy Mango.

Oh and with the RC lift you can get away with notching the crossmember.

    Let's see:

-cutting a cross member on a brand new truck and dealing with potential warranty claim issues with the car dealership [unless you buy the truck already lifted from them]

-lowering the differential actually reduces ground clearance

    -reduced wheel travel

    -increased center of gravity

    - lower re-sell value

There are cheaper ways to fit 35"s for sure. Having said that, if it's just for looks, I guess a drop bracket lift works out well. I just have never heard anybody say anything positive long term when it comes to actual performance gains off road.

I have personally known a good number of guys that installed 6" drop bracket lifts and within a few years either cut it off to do a SAS or sold the truck altogether.

Guys often end up cranking the coilovers up with their drop bracket lifts, which reduces wheel travel.

I saw a 2nd Gen with a BDS 6" lift on 35's forsale a few months back; It does look badass; however when I took a look at the lift itself it just looks all chopped up and pieced together. Suspension looked stock with some meaty spacers and what not. It just looks cheap and rode like a dump truck.

For that amount of money I would definitely go mid-long travel kit_ Cut what I need and fit 35's unless you want the mall crawler look then the BDS lift will do.

If you really want 6" of lift, id go for the 4.5" RCD lift with longer coilovers for the full 6". You'd get more travel, and increased clearance for the bracket. But it will cost some money to do it right.

Most of the drop bracket lifts lower everything to keep the Cv angles same as factory. And some of the cheap DB lifts even use the stock shocks with some monster spacer.

Wrong coilovers then or otherwise 9-10" lift.

The reduced wheel travel is more concern in regular 3" lift, the every inch of the lift is sacrificed of the downtravel. Then it clunks in every bigger bumps. And the uptravel have to limit too if 35" tires installed. With a drop bracket lift the suspension wheeltravel and geometry is maintained.

Any lift you choose will affect:
    - warranty in the drivetrain
    - reasale
    -center of gravity

Not a fan of this method either, but those factors are valid in any method
