I've talked a lot about the bumpers that have been made here by the shop guys. You've seen the Cherokee bumpers, here is the Dakota!

The Silverado next to it is the newest bumper built. However, if you can see where it sticks WAY OUT past the fender? Yeah, it looks like shit and I'm not taking pics of it lol. It doesn't deserve it.

You should see the Chevy's bumper :puke:

I think the Dakota doesn't look too bad, forgot to get a pic of the rear. It's a simple flat and straight sheet metal bumper. I think they're all using 1/8" thick plate

upload_2017-3-30_15-25-25.jpg I feel like everything below that diagonal line should have stayed on the shop floor and the bottom bevel should have started near my horizontal line IMO

that's super thin. I used 3/16 c channel and 3/16 plate for the skid. most people use 3/16" and use 1/4" for gussets but since c channel basically self gussets the entire piece I figured I would be fine, and my skid is short enough and mounted to 3/16 angle on the edges it should be fine also

I see what you mean here. Your bumper is much more of a high clearance bumper than what they were building.
I know I've only been on one wheeling trip, so far, but I can't tell that anyone pushed over any trees with their 3/16" or thicker bumpers lol. I was plowing saplings over with factory bumper just fine. However, that doesn't mean I won't consider a heavier gauge for my own bumper if I do make one.

I'll find a pic and make it happen. :D

There's a guy in our PNW group that runs them and highly recommends them...

    IMG_4496.jpg

I will definitely be doing this but not till I can do suspension and tires at the same time... pretty sure I won't clear the tires without it.

I'm lifting first, then tires. Yes, I skip leg day, like Chad lol

Seriously though! The 255/85 tires did great at LBL. And lift, technically, is achieved from tires, not suspension. Taller tires get the axles off the ground, not taller shocks/springs. Namean?!

    Too much?

Also, yes, I know what you mean. I know next to nothing about suspension so I have a lot of research to do. I've finally figured out the tires thing and I'm pretty dead set with the ST Maxx in that size. I've just gotta learn one thing at a time...
