i don't think the problem is God...i think the problem is people trying to be God....noone can say this is good or this is bad without God...because if God didn't make the standard then there is no standard to go by...anything goes would be the result...no good or bad...opinion doesn't count for anything....that's a big problem ...people's opinions...they think whatever they wanna think with no basis for thinking it...make up their own rules...trying to be God...don't trust religion...trust God...people will always let you down eventually...God doesn't...doesn't mean you always get your way though

What if, as a person who does not believe in any god or gods (and who thinks the idea of god is just one possibility in a sea of ideas) - what if as a conscious being I am given pain and pleasure as a starting point from which to learn empathy; eventually this leads to a robust philosophy about rights of living beings, particularly those who feel pain, and particularly for those who are intelligent. And one day I thought, "Do I have the right to kill even an animal, not for my survival, but for convenience and excess?" My body is equipped to live without meat!

At that moment I knew I could no longer justify killing, or having someone kill for me, any animal- except for survival.

That includes humans, who by any standard, are similar to if not exactly like the animals (tho we are not the king of the jungle nor are we the king of the sea).

This philosophy does not need any god or gods for me to sense right and wrong. I base it upon the naturally occurring guides that all humanity is graced with, pain is bad and pleasure is good (pleasure is developed into things like "wow thanks for washing my truck").

You can try to make an argument that these "came from god" and I invite you to search yourself for proof that god exists- it is the main idea many people claim to be the philosophical and ethical wellspring for ideas and guidance but where is this god? How can a person pretend something is real for their whole life? I reject this kind of thinking that is not critical of the self. You will find that your faith in god includes absolutely no proof, for that is what faith is.

And what if I told you I believe that there are living beings who created life on Earth, and who I communicate with, and they live on Jupiter, but I could not let you talk with them (but potentially they might talk to you) and I insisted they are real; would you believe in my Jupiter pen pals? I hope not. I hope you would think that without proof, the idea is laughable. But how could anyone laugh at my "creation beings on Jupiter" who share the same level of "non existence" as anyone else's god or gods? I could just as easily "have faith" that they are real.

I am a christian one would say but i do not follow the "religion" i hate religion...all it seems to be is rules, regs and clicks and turns more people away from God rather than what it was intended for. So i believe in God and in Jesus and the Bible just i do not like the way churches run things these days.
