Short box vs Long box

Short box. Keeps me busy thinking ways to use/haul stuff that really doesn't fit... like motorcyles, 12 ft kayaks, tents... Be too easy a 6ft'er.

IMHO I prefer the Long bed, Bigger = better. Yes, the Shortbed looks much cleaner, but you cant even fit a quad, and a cooler back there.

It kinda looks ugly to me since the Cab is longer than the Bed as well. Just my personal preference.

For those that love to travel, crammed with gear in the cab, shortbed is the way to go................thats why I prefer the Long bed.

 

As far as looks go, I think the short box looks better.

 

I Personally think the short bed looks kinda silly. Like a little stump hanging off the back.

 

I like my long bed for looks. It looks like you can do whatever kind of hauling you want to (and you can). I just recently put a queen size bed and mattress in the back of mine, and it swallowed it whole.

...then you have the way it looks with the black tonneau cover and the black tinted windows on the black sand pearl paint job.

I can't stand the look of a DC with a long box. They are way too long. A long box would however be more functional.

short beds suck...long beds rule...i love being able to haul wood and not have to use a red tie at the end...i love being able to fit a quad in the back with the door closed...long beds arent hard to handle...this is my first truck and i dont struggle...i dont drive into a spot i back up in to it...so much easier plus im used to it because of my parking garage in my apartments...long beds is just the best of both worldss...u get a 4 door truck and a big bed...short beds are useless might as well get a 4runner especially if u put stupid ass campers on them...short bed owners suck too...haha jk

 

Except the extra use of the long bed with the extender.

 

Long bed on a Double Cab: It looks more proportional and it gets more stuff in it also I fit in it as well when I slept inside my Leer cap.

Short bed on a Extended Cab: Again Proportional but Long Bed looks better and it has more space to haul.

Single cab there is no question about it: short bed, long bed will be a killer.

I'd say long for looks and utility. Trucks with small boxes look really goofy, IMO.

They look too long for one reason.....because they are! 140.9" wheelbase and 221.3 OAL to be exact. The short bed is about a foot less in both dimensions, but IMO they look like an Explorer with the short bed, kinda fugly and disproportionate. All very subjective matters of personal taste to be sure.

If you want a great utilitarian truck, get the regular cab. Aesthetically it looks the way God intended a pickup to look, not like some SUV/truck hybrid. Wheel base is 110" in the 4x4 version, and OAL is 190.4", over 2 1/2 feet shorter than the long bed DC and 1 1/2 shorter than the short bed. Of course, the reg-cab has other limitations, but they sure do look waaaaayyy cool.

 

I think the long bed is bizzare, if you need that dimensions you own a full size truck with a standard bed, if I had the choice between the tacoma dbcab long bed and a tundra db cab standard bed I will choose the tundra

 

Hello Everyone,

I am looking to escape from my Dodge Dakota, and have narrowed my choices to a Tacoma or Tundra. I'm leaning towards Tacoma because I like the looks and gas mileage. But the Tundra is reduced so much that it's the price of the Tacoma. Thoughts?

In double cab, should I get a long bed or short bed? I like the short bed looks, but the long bed for use. Offroading in the Long Bed?

Any input would be helpful!!!
