I've got a friend who has parties about two times a year and it never fails that when we get together, we all start drinking, then the ladies go off to the living room. Then we drink more and he insists on showing us his gun collection that we've all seen 100 times already. Then at some random point in the evening he always pulls out that Buffalo Bill clip.

It never gets old. I just sent him the Family Guy version.

 

I think they did that a couple of days ago. It was getting weird for a while.

 

The problem is that it can quickly and easily turn into a nightmare. Around here you might make $500 a month, but then when they move out and destroy the house, it can cost more than you made very easily.

Most people seem to not do anything crazy. But then when someone moves out it can take forever to get a new renter. Then you gotta cross your fingers and grit your teeth in hopes that the new tenant won't destroy the place or turn it into a grow house/meth lab. The longer your in the game and the more turnover in tenants, the more the chances it'll happen. You gotta have the intestinal fortitude to do all this. It really isn't as easy as it sounds.

Also around where I live contractors cost a fortune. And then there's the issues with finding good contractors. If you can do that part your ahead of the game in this area.

Maybe there's landlord insurance or something like that.

Also, my way of thinking about property is that it is a liability until you sell it. Many people view it as an asset, not thinking about liability or the market tanking.

That'd be too funny! Even though his gun collection hasn't grown, he always gets better and better tech stuff. His last party resulted in playing that clip on his 80 inch TV. And I swear he doesn't remember anything he did the next day. Funny as hell.

Makes me wonder what the hell he does on a regular day.

 

Might wanna sneak around his place if you can (next time his out of it drunk) at those get togethers, see if you can find any wells with a bucket of Jergens and rope attached in a secret room..

Let the cops know your neighbor is selling stolen cell phones to people outside your house. See if they take the bait and set up a sting or something.

Maybe go outside with your pistol on your hip and video tape every time they meet outside your place to sell shit. Maybe they'll go somewhere else?

I've got a collection of pistols and I keep at least one loaded pistol on each level on my three level townhouse. Actually I've got three upstairs ready for action...so five at the ready.

I've been thinking about conceal carry for a while. There is one person in our area that open carries, so I know he knows things are kinda shady around the area.

 

Things aren't shady at my house. But my .45 is on my hip all the time.

A gun in a safe is useless if/when a life or death situation presents itself. No time to go get it.

 

50 years and counting, still haven't needed a gun.

I don't own a gun. Never have. Nor am I against them.

 

I keep them out but in easy to get to places that are out of sight.

.45's will work in any situation. I've got an old WW2 era Colt 1911 and an old Colt .45 WW2 revolver. The only one I've taken to the range is the 1911 and it always seems to be the loudest gun on the range. Fun gun to shoot.
