As for your comment Uplifted....not all of us live with our mommy. The day i bought mine i started putting money into it. Have 13k in my truck not including what i paid for it. Its my baby and my hobby. Have no kids and keep my bills to a minimum where i can. I do all the work myself to keep cost down and have a great career to afford it. Give respect and credit where its due. Im sure theres alot of us on here in the same boat. Hope all of you can get your taco to where you want it but it takes time. Have 2-1/2 years into mine.

Hey, as an FYI, I don't think it was Uplifted that said that. He's been pretty cool. I had no aspirations to do any mods UNTIL I joined this forum and it has really changed my view on it. The mods become an extension of ourselves and I say to each their own. Buying my latest Taco has been the best automotive purchase of my life and in my 40 something years of life, I have owned 30 new vehicles. I always left them mostly as is but plan to either mod this one (not too much but enough to suit my needs) or look for a second gen as a backup and really mod it.

I understood the guy's point that said what he said and don't think he meant any ill will. But, i think you made a great and much needed point. There are people out their that don't have all the bills that come with a growing family and this is a hobby for them. I think you nailed it in that there are folks with little to no attachments that enjoy this as a hobby and no one is doing without as a result of the investment. I have a large family and understand firsthand all the money that goes into family issues and can understand how the "family guy", no pun intended, can look at some of these builds and wonder how the heck folks are getting the money for them. I think you answered at least part of that question. My kids only get more expensive as they get older. :) We will all spend on money on something, whether it is hunting, fishing, sports, or whatever. Putting money into these trucks is something we can physically see and appreciate. I say good job and well done...:)

No prob. Figured anyone who has done research on them probably has found the simulator but thought id throw it out there anyway. I personally like the black on tan especially with black wheels, windows etc. But its a taco, itll look good no matter what haha

The real moondog.... i agree completely. I didnt take offense to it and anyone who does shouldnt be on a public forum. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Im sure it was more of a sarcastic remark with some true curiosity behind it. I was just making a point. I didnt understand how people did it years ago until my taco became an obsession lol. Ive had many cars aswell and unfortunately the majority were lemons. All of my money went into keeping them running but now that i have a dependable truck with the expexted upkeep and occasional repairs i can put the money into upgraded rather than upkeep. Thanks moondog for making your points. (Thats why im here for opinions and ideas.) i apollogize to uplift if my comment offended you or anyone and also if i had the wrong guy haha

UPDATE: I sent some questions to Softopper weeks ago. No response. I emailed again. No response. Again. No response. So, I did the unthinkable and called them. They were nice but very hurried and said they got a lot of emails (so do I). I asked them my questions and they sent me a pic of a Tundra with the tan top on Quicksand. It was in the very bright sun so I could hardly tell how it would look because we all know that the Quicksand color changes a lot with outside conditions. To me their tan looks very light compared to some of the pictures I have seen on the internet and it makes me wonder if there are other companies out their with a darker khaki looking color. Some almost seem brown as opposed to tan. In the end, Softopper was somewhat helpful but I had to call to get help and while nice, they were rushed.

This brings me to Bestop. I emailed them not expecting anyone to get back with me based off my Softopper email experience. Wrong. I got an instant auto generated email with case assignment number. Even though the inquiry wasn't addressed immediately I will take an auto generated message any day over nothing. I figured it would be severa days before they got back with me. Wrong. The same day I got a very kind and polite email that they only sell black toppers but they referred me to a company that does custom colors. To me their customer service was top notch and if they made the tan, they would have my business. If I go with black, they will likely get my business. To me they offered exceptional customer service. I'm not bashing Softopper BUT they could change how they respond to inquiries based off my experience. I don't always have time to pick up the phone and honestly just prefer email.

What the fuck are you talking about? You've been on this forum for less than a week and have 5 messages and you come talking shit to me? Obviously you haven't bothered to browse around or even look at my build thread and see my truck and what I've put in to it. Do your research before you shit talk. I've answered all of OPs questions with useful information.

Would you mind posting the picture they sent you? I still haven't seen a picture of an actual tan topper yet.

I swear I think I recall seeing a tan one on maybe a first gen that was similar to the Quicksand and the top looked nice. I'm not sure if maybe the bright sun making the Quicksand look lighter is making a difference or what but this doesn't look like one I saw some time ago but maybe that wasn't a Softopper... I may see if I can get a custom color because I would like a khaki type color but I don't think this is it at all. I agree that your black one looks better than this one for sure.
