What state do you live in that would only cost $500 to get a court date? ;)

Filing is cheap. Its the cost of the man hours that would rack up.

Attorneys dont take cases where they don't get paid. He wouldn't find an atty for this lol

Are you saying his grill melted because it was close to a hot grill?

His *grille melted because it was close to a hot grill.

Or, his grille melted because it was next to another hot grille (I.e. the TRD Pro grille :D)

So..........if it's gonna cost $500 to get a court date to possibly make someone pay for a grill, why wouldn't you just skip the nonsense and extra expense on top of that and waste of free time to do so and lost wages from work and just buy another grill?

Looks like a chemical reaction of some sort. My GF put one of those little tree air fresheners in the A/C vent of her Camry and it left the exact same marks that are on your grille. Being that its also a Toyota i would assume its the same or similar to the same material. Ill try to take a pic this evening when she gets home.

I agree with this theory. Why should the owner just eat it? If "an accident", the party causing it should be responsible, as they would be in any other situation.

If I backed my car into his grill and damaged it, I'd be responsible. If building windows are causing this, the property owner should be responsible.

The issue of coated, low-emissivity glass, "energy efficient" windows reflecting sunlight and causing damage has been quite well documented for 10 years or more. It seems that increases in ambient air pressure, beyond that at which the double pane assembly was sealed, can cause the panes to become concave; focusing sunlight as does a magnifying glass. "Google" it.

The damage the OP reports is quite consistent with that which has been observed and linked to these windows--it is certainly not the car owner's, or in the case of melted vinyl siding the home owner's, fault and they should be reimbursed by the party that created the problem. In fact assigning liability here is a bit more straightforward than with the '05 to '10 rusting frames.

Of course it could be the OP's own windows...

I plan on suing water because I get wet when it rains....

I also plan on suing air because it's mostly nitrogen and I need oxygen.

Cute. Are you opting out of the frame rust class action suit for similar reasons?

Time for a metal mesh grille insert. It'll have to get really hot to melt that!
