Hi, I joined to ask this question because my internet searches and local shops are lacking on the subject. When I pop the hood on my new truck its like lincoln logs in there. Soooo much room for turbos, but no kit exists yet. Is this something any of you could see developed in the near future and why/why not? I know it would be double the cost of a supercharger but I want to dream. Thanks!

An FI option has been discussed plenty if you search. Seems to come down to issues with tuning the ECU.

Yup, thats usually the issue unfortunately...

kits are a rip off, build your own. You'll learn a lot and save a ton of money.

I'm just going to put a 3.5 ecoboost in mine, along with the tranny.

Usually a turbo is considerably cheaper than a blower setup......well a real blower anyways as in positive displacement not those sissy belt driven tubro centrifugals LOL. Its hoing to be a while before we ever see any FI "kits" for these trucks, if ever.

Has anyone heard of it being done? By turbo kit I mostly mean has anyone found a way to tune the sucker. It can't be too hard to fab the turbo setup in the oversized engine compartment

About as realistic as your ability to find something via search.

It'd be a completely custom option that I don't see a future in.

I wouldn't think that people who buy a truck like this really want to spend $10,000 to stick a couple of turbos on the truck when they could spend the money on a lift, gears, lockers, topper, bed rack, high clearance bumpers........ If I wanted to go fast, I'd pick a different platform. Of course, that didn't keep people from sticking superchargers on the old models.

I'd think a Supercharger would be much better for this truck anyways. You get a low rpm torque boost, which is what this truck is lacking.

Assume money is no object. This truck will be FI someday, just a matter of when and if a turbo is a realistic option for a DD. I don't want it bad enough to use my 40k truck as a guinea pig for my own learning :boink:

A roots blower will definitely give the truck a kick in the low rpm power band which is what the truck needs. You can make good power with a centrifugal, but a roots blower will definitely give you more down low.

Off the shelf kit? Doubt it. If you want to make it happen, you can though. Sometimes you just have to make what you want. Turbos are sexy, but this truck needs a roots blower to make driving around town better. Turbos won't really do that.

Would be interesting to see something given that we don't have traditional exhaust manifolds (they're cast into the cylinder heads and comes out to a "downpipe")

0210, if I could start over I would ask about how to tune this truck for a turbo. I can not find any info on this when I search! Do you have any or should I STFU?
