So If I Wanted To Paint My Inner Grill...

Ive got a colormatched grill on my Off Road, but its the newer gen with the gray not the black...

Any suggestions about how to go about painting mine black? Im just not sold on the look of grillcraft, satoshi, etc. yet (though Ive never seen one in person) so I seem to prefer the stock.

Thoughts or suggestions?

 

For paint choice i say go with bumper and trim black.Has a satin finish like factory look.Duplicolor and VHT has good ones .If going for gloss look I had good results with rustolium high performance gloss black .Its on the thicker side and comes out smooth and glossy(test spray something so you know how it comes out).I think satin black would look best but your choice.
Just prep inner grill (sand ,clean,)mask outher grill and should be ready to paint. Its a good idea to spray primmer sealer first but not necesary.Just seals bottom paint from one you spaying on to prevent any problems.(rare if preped good)
I painted only my cross bars so took a long time to mask ,but youre painting entire inner grill so masking is easier. Take your time and it should come out great.
Just sitting around waiting to see whats up with tsunami warning .Supose to hit in an hour .Doesnt seem to be big but you never know.

I painted mine black by roughing it up with sandpaper, applying adhesion promoter, and a few coats of rustoleum flat black. It turned out great. I have, however, since switched to a grillcraft.
