Unfortunately I haven't ventured towards oldtown too much in my career, generally stick to the Airpark, Kierland and Pinnacle Peak. Blancos it is next time down there.

I've been wanting a DJI Mavrik for our trips for aerial photos. Idk what marcs cost but his is setup for flying fast! Not quiet photography. Two different ways of doing it.

Take the footage I've shown you guys with
Yes. A good iron that can do from 20W to 40W is necessary. A thin 60/40 rosin core solder is also ideal (lead for the win). Scrub that flux off with isopropyl and you're in bidness. It's a good challenge  I'm always here to help since i built one and as proof that i know what im doing "it flies" lol.

As far as building a miniquad vs buying a phantom...

    - Build it yourself and you can easily fix it cheaply
    - Build it yourself and you can make it your own to do anything and fly as you please (aka FAAAAST and do flips (cuz flips are cool))
    - Build it yourself and you can tell all your friends you build a drone (for lulz) cuz nerd!

-Buy a DJI and you can get wayyyy better cinematic shots
-Buy a DJI and you can spend the same $ as building a miniquad
-Buy a DJI and you can have a warranty?
-Buy a DJI and you can be like everyone else

For the money DJI gets you way more of a techno capable machine. GPS, Gimbals, Software, Idiot proof software, as well as flight limiting geofences... which is the main reason i went rogue with a build. Last i heard, a phantom 4 wouldnt fly up table mtn near lander because of a DJI programmed geo fence. I want to fly where i want, but i understand airspace so i feel i'm responsible enough to undertake the responsibility. Most who buy DJI dont understand airspace and faa regs thus the new restrictions built into the flight controls of DJI ware...

I had an Axial SCX10 a few years back. God that thing was so much fun. I still have a handful of nice parts sitting around for it... Should have kept the little money pit.

Back when the old turd was just a wee lad... and still nice  and my cringey iPhone 4 photography skills were starting to bloom.

Well OPM finally released guidance to the department of the interior for after the freeze. I was notified that they will not have funding for the recent graduates program and I will be recieving for instruction on the rescinding of the job offer in Idaho.

Lakewood BLM informed me that due to budget cuts they have to lower my lander position from a GS5 to a GS3, aka cut me back to $10/hr. Guess I'll be looking for a job yet again.
