I remember when the Hyundais very first came out. A friend of mine got one and he drove the piss of it. He discovered it would lay down a decent 2nd gear scratch.

At the time I was driving a '79 Malibu.

An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
Still have my 2005 Ford F250 with 279,000 on it.
Before that was a 97 Ford F250 with 305,000 on it.
Before that was a 2001 dodge 1500 that I bailed on with only 45,000 (couldn't keep it out of the shop).
    Before that was a 93 Ford F250.
Before that was an 85 Chevy 1/2 ton.

It was a great car for the money. Plenty of pep, smooth at 80 mph plus.
Was burning a bit of oil when I sold it - needed a quart or so between standard oil changes. Told that to the buyer, but heard that about a year later he seized it up because he didn't pay attention.

Everyone that I've known that have had Dodge products ALWAYS have problems with them. When the Dakota Sport and Rebel trucks came out I absolutely loved the looks of those things but I could never pull the trigger. I still think Rams and Dodge trucks in general are some of the best looking trucks.

If I had the money not to care I would get into their diesel trucks...especially the Cummins diesel line. I'd almost be willing to believe that the trucks in that price point are better quality and could possibly run forever if it's maintained.

I remember in the late '80's a co-worker bought a new Yugo that had just made it's first appearance in the US. I remember being freaked out seeing the plastic looking gas tank when she opened either the trunk or one of the rear passenger doors...I can't remember which. Talk about bare bones! No panel to hide the gas tank LOL!

The Dodge defiantly had problems. The cherry on top was when the service department blamed the suspension problems on the tires I had on (they were stock size, just more aggressive off road tires). Then told be to "go easy on it, it's just a truck". Two weeks later I traded it in for the 97 ford. That being said I think Dodge has stepped up to the plate and are building good trucks now. I know a few guys who run them. For the most part I have always gone with Fords, mainly just because they have never left me stranded. There are times I'm 20 miles behind a locked gate. Having a truck that's reliable is important.

Before my (current) '07 DCSB TRD OR, I had a 2000 4-cyl Taco, then an '89 Toyota Pickup (was going for the Marty McFly look). So basically, Tacomas are all I've ever owned. I've loved them all - wish I had pictures of my old trucks. :(

By far my favorite car was the 1989 Thunderbird SC 3.8 V6 with 5speed manual, position-traction 8.8 rear independent suspension, electronically adjustable shock, air adjustable bolstered and lumbered seats. 230hp 315ft/lb rear wheel torque from the factory!
Would walk down the highway at 65 and let you drop it into 3rd and break the rear loose! Not a very well known car but when I was 17 and learned they existed I had to have one!
