    Hi

wanted to see if anyone has experienced this before...Taco was running fine last night, parked it in the garage, came out this morning to run and errand and it won't start.

Checked to see if there was a light left on and it doesn't appear so. The dash lights are flickering, and the car won't turn over nor will it make a clicking sound. Checked the voltage of the battery and it seems good as it is reading -12.65vDC. Checked the battery connections and they appear to be tight, ground is also tight. Also, went under the truck to see if any connectors had come loose and I don't see anything dangling.

Any other ideas of what I can check?

    Thanks

probably should have mentioned that it's a 2012 TRD Sport v6

Try unhooking the battery for half an hour and then plug everything back in. The system may just need to be reset.

Checking the battery with a voltmeter won't give you the whole story. The battery has to have a load in it.... Turn the lights on and try to start it, if the lights die out, your battery is most likely junk.

Thanks File IFR, didn't realize that about testing the battery...then this may very well be the battery, cause the interior lights are very dim and the power locks will only unlock the main door when I click the key fob.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
Time to get a battery bud.

If you want something cheaper that will still work fine for everyday use I might recommend an Everstart from wally world or a Duralast gold from autozone. The Everstart batteries actually get surprisingly high ratings in consumer reports. I've had good luck with both brands (have one in both my other vehicles) in the hot Tucson summers both have lasted 5 years or more for me.

A lot of guys go with optimas if they really wanna spend some money.

Thanks for all the help...it was the battery, picked one up at AutoZone that matched the current ratings and the truck is running great again.
