Is there a motor oil, maybe a synthetic blend, that is best for a very high milage 3.4 to maybe prolong life further?

What are you calling very high mileage?

    Is it having consumption issues?

Do you have compression and leakdown test results?

I guess I'm asking is this a hopeful problem solving question, or a true preventative question?

    Dear Kamiah,

I know Billy is from Florida, but what he is asking you is very relevant. LOL! The 3.4 does very well with any full synthetic. I use Castrol 5W-30 full synthetic on our Tacoma with the 3.4.

    Take it easy,
    Paul

Fellas, it has 327000 on it, uses no oil, still gets 23 mpg on highway, and manifold vacuum is still very good and steady..Im just worried about seal leakage with synthetic oils..oh, and is a 5 sp. man. trans.

    Kamiah,

If your engine is not leaking any oil, you don't have anything to worry about as far as switching to a full synthetic motor oil. Remember synthetic motor oil is a much better lubricant than Dino blood by far. The race is not even close.

    Take it easy,
    Paul

    Same as everybody else...
I suggest M1 HM but any name brand synthetic will do the trick.

Valvoline Max Life High Mileage Synthetic Blend. The stuff is usually the same price as Dino. {$17-18 for 5 Quarts at Walmart} This oil has a reputation to minimize oil consumption and even stop minor leaks. Even though your engine is still going strong, I'd recommend this if you're wanting to switch to a synthetic blend.

I use penzoil 10-30 high mileage. I have 240k. Used full synthetic once and my truck didn't like it so I switched back to Dino.

I think it comes down to regular oil changes more then the type of oil.

Everyone has their favorite flavors for what ever reasons

Been using the 5W-30 in my '02 Taco since 2005--200,000 miles and doing good.:burnrubber::burnrubber:All other fluids in tranny and diff's are Amsoil , also.

    Keep 'em well-lubricated--makes me happy!

Dad worked at a Harley dealership and a rep from Schaeffer was down there to demo comparing top shelf synthetics . Schaeffers was the best at lubricating gears running together even when they siezed up . Followed by Mobil 1 then amsoil. So it's good stuff .

On a unrelated not could you figure out what bolt you guys have in your diff drop kits . I rounded one off so I need it replaced (other is holding diff up) I know random left turn in subject. Sorry OP
