Big thanks to @Sub-Zero for fixing my exhaust today. No more rattle on the skid, and watching someone else under the truck with a welder beats the shit out of rolling around down there :)

Need to get it rerouted behind the t-case, I'll probably try to do that one day before skids.

Why does it need to go behind the t case?

No I think the easiest way is the way I've been doing it....I honestly don't think the heat on the u joint or t case (not trans) is anything to worry about, but I havent put a thermometer on it yet... Could always put a heat shield on it...If you go behind the t case you have to relocate the y as well

Then it won't be oddly flattened and won't be hanging down under the tcase. More clearance for skids. Even if not for those reasons, mostly because having it under the tcase and flattened seems to be the dumbest thing I've seen and is annoying.

By the time I get to it, most of my exhaust will be rusted, maybe not terribly, but we'll see. Its just the idea of it being under the tcase annoys me.

That looks like a 16+ the second gens the y is closer to the motor and on a harsher angle

A lot of exhaust shops cut the stock y out and set it up like the pics you posted

Don't knock it until you see it up close. Ryan was willing to run it behind the tcase for me today, but, when you see that his method raises the pipe a good 3/4 inch above the bottom edge of the tcase crossmember, while only using a handful of parts, and still allowing clearance between the u joint guard, you might think otherwise. Even if there is some issue at a later date, there is enough of the stock pipe left to modify for a route behind the tcase. This method also preserves the secondary cats. I couldn't see the value in throwing hundreds of more dollars at a solution when this appears to work well.
