That explains why the front part of the slide and the frame didn't look right, lol.

If it's a little high you can get a velcro rest to help with the cheek weld.

before I go out looking figured I'd ask....any left handed guys used a thumbhole stock commonly found on the VEPRs? Been considering picking one up since I have a ton of 54r already. Just unsure of the stock and me being left handed how it would work.

My first choice would be a SVT-40 but Im not willing ot pay the prices ive seen on them currently

Anyone familiar with the HK416 (M27 Marines)? Just read there is talk Marines will replace all their M4's with it.

Isnt the HK416 basically just another variant of the AR-15? Short piston instead of DI, adjustable gas block instead of normal, ect type small changes. Not saying those are bad things but wouldnt be a bad change either.

I would submit to you that going from DI to a piston isn't really a "small" type change. Sure, the rifle basically looks like an AR-15 but since the gas system is basically the heart of a select fire weapon it's a pretty big change, IMO. I haven't fired the M27 but fired the M4 plenty. It was more than adequate and reliable. Would be interesting to see the Corps field a rifle en masse that was different from what the Army uses....since commonality and cost and all.
